Job Description : Position DescriptionSeattle Public Utilities (SPU) is recruiting for a skilled Strategic Advisor in its Customer Care Division. This position is responsible for developing vision, strategy, and benchmarks data/processes. One of the key initiatives will be to continue on with the merging of two (2) workgroups to meet increasing service demands that promote a center of excellence in a collaborative workforce delivering stellar service to our customers.The successful candidate will work with a diverse group of professionals across the department in supporting the Division Director in the development and implementation of the People, Culture, and Community Branch’s Strategic Business Plan (SBP). Including and not limited to other strategic priorities leading a key role to integrate continuous process improvement principles into management practices and culture. Moreover, the successful candidate will be responsible for influencing the nature and scope of programs/initiatives that offers direction and focus to significantly advance the business by acting as a key advisor to the Division Director and Management.This position is open until filled. Report and/or present findings to management, executives, and external stakeholders.Develop a strong performance framework to support the Division Director in making decisions re: performance management, process improvements, and budgeting.Research, analyze, and recommend on multi-dimensional and/or complex issues having a broad scope and significant impact to stakeholders and community.Research, advise, and draft documentation on behalf of the Division Director regarding allocation of resources for major City services, programs, and/or activities that have long-term implications and impact.Identify and recommend solutions to operational challenges and needs by facilitating business process re-engineering.Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment; however, due to the ongoing pandemic and Covid-19 state and local restrictions, hybrid/telework/office/field assignment work will be available until at least January 2022; consistent with HR guidelines, and as circumstances dictate. We continue to seek guidance from local public health agencies and will proceed accordingly with any necessary changes or needs regarding “workplace location” expectations.QualificationsExperience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in policy, organization planning, and/or advising senior management or executives on policy or program direction.Education: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, finance, planning, and strategic leadership, or a closely related field.Additional InformationThe successful candidate will possess some of the following:Passionate and committed to customer service and understands how to interpret the customer’s voice into improving customer’s experienceForward thinking and innovative approachExperience working for or with government agencies to shape the nature and scope of complex and diverse set of policies and programsStrong communications and listening skills that can materialize into collectively creating broad and specific visionStrong analytical, creative problem-solving, negotiation, and facilitation skillsProven ability to build effective working relationship and work collaboratively across an organizationStrong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet rapidly changing deadlines and prioritiesQuantitative analysis skills.
