Duties & Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Principal Investigator, and in collaboration with the Project Coordinator(s) and faculty team members, develop and implement the methodology for an on-campus, one-on-one coaching model to support Native Hawaiian students throughout the University of Hawaii (UH) system in their acquisition of skills for success in postsecondary education and various employment outcomes across multiple projects.
In collaboration with the Project Coordinator(s), exercises operational responsibility of all aspects of three federally funded projects designed to support Native Hawaiian learners. In the absence of the Project Coordinator, assume primary leadership responsibilities.
In collaboration with the Project Coordinator, provide leadership knowledge, critical thinking and planning in regards to budgets and expenditures, to meet and achieve project objectives and deliverables on time and within budget.
Provides leadership assistance for the recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of project personnel, intern/practicum students, and volunteers involved with student success and online and on-ground, face to face learning strategies assistance services.
Participate in the timely and accurate preparation and submission of data reporting activities.
Contribute to the pursuit of extramural funding efforts to sustain project activities and initiatives. Prepare funding requests for public and private grants and contracts.
Provide scholarly content area expertise, based in best practices and the literature, that will inform the development of project interventions, products, and support provision for Native Hawaiian learners.
Conduct research, develop interventions, and pursue publications on the effectiveness of adaptive coaching methodologies in postsecondary education settings.
Customize intervention, implementation, and evaluation activities and products to meet implementation needs for various project sites and develop model replication resources based on assessments of success, effectiveness, and utilization of the program and services.
Develop, implement, and evaluate professional development training curricula for postsecondary education student support personnel, including revising and improving the existing content and services.
Initiate and cultivate partnerships with organizations and individuals providing support to Native Hawaiian college students as well as experts and specialists in Native Hawaiian Education to inform future development of model fidelity protocols and facilitate dissemination of model replication materials.
Observe, coach, and supervise adaptive coaches and peer mentors for project support of Native Hawaiian students in postsecondary education settings, as well as postsecondary education student affairs support staff, in order to improve project intervention, implementation, and evaluation activities.
Maintain a research profile and professional activities such as presenting at academic or field-specific conferences, and preparing and submitting academic manuscripts, in the areas of culturally relevant education, postsecondary student support, employment preparation and inclusion, to inform project planning and intramural funding efforts to sustain project activities and initiatives.
Contribute to the Department, University, profession, and community through serving on committees, volunteering as a journal reviewer, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Education, or related field, from a college or university of recognized standing.
At least two (2) years experience working in the field of education.
At least two (2) years experience in a supervisory role overseeing a minimum of 5 people.
History of successful collaboration with other service provision agencies and organizations.
Competency in academic writing and editing.
Direct experience working with Native Hawaiian programs in secondary or postsecondary settings.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with various audiences including secondary and postsecondary students, educators, and support staff.
Basic knowledge of Native Hawaiian history and culture.
Ability to travel independently to various geographical site/school locations, including neighbor island travel, in a timely manner, and work on some weekends for project-related activities.
Desirable Qualifications:

Experience working with Native Hawaiian students in secondary or postsecondary settings.
Previous job/work experience in a college or university environment.
Demonstrated success in receiving extramural funding including federal and state grants and contracts.
