Job Description : City Employees Associates L.L.C., based in Long Beach, California, is seeking an experienced labor relations representative or labor relations attorney to serve as staff for small, independent public employees associations and their members. CEA provides service to more than 150 bargaining units throughout the state. Our client organizations includes employees associations organized under the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act and other related state laws, who work for cities, counties and special districts in California.Duties include the full range of CEA services in representing public employees and unions in labor and employment matters, including, but not limited to: serving as lead negotiator; processing grievances and disciplinary appeals; handling arbitrations, Personnel Commission, Civil Service Commission, or Public Employment Relations Board hearings; representation of individual members in investigatory meetings and medical accommodation meetings; labor management meetings; meet and confers; and other consulting, advice and organizational assistance as needed.Knowledge and experience in the recognition process for public employee unions, ability to assist client organizations with internal membership recruitment, and a desire and skill in writing articles on labor and employment topics that affect public sector workers is desirable.Pay and benefits are competitive. Salary will be $8,300 – $9,800 monthly. CEA offers medical and dental coverage; a 3% match into the retirement plan; up to 160 hours of vacation per year; up to 64 hours of paid sick leave per year; 12 holidays; parental leave; reimbursement for mileage, state bar dues, and professional development costs; and other benefits.Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to work remotely and travel throughout southern California are required. Negotiations experience, familiarity with state bargaining laws, and a Bachelor’s Degree or Juris Doctorate is preferred.
