Job Description : Provide safety information to the guests prior to boarding the canoes. Guide the guests by canoe around Davidson Lake while providing them with a safe and enjoyable experience. Acts as crew to the RHIB boat captain. Provides narration on the RHIB ride to and from Glacier Point. Gives a safety speech and ensures guest compliance. Assists the Captain in boat maneuvers and in the care of the boat.MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensures guests experience the “E.X.C.U.R.S.I.O.N. of a lifetime” by being attentive to the needs and/or wants of the guests, answering any and all questions guests may have throughout the excursion, and notifying management of unhappy guests and/or obtaining guests’ information for management to contact themMonitors the safety of our guests at all timesPerforms chores before, during, and after tours to include, but not limited to, the following: cleaning bathrooms, assists with the lunch scene, maintaining the canoes, chopping wood, clearing brush, and cleaning equipmentDaily safety check of the equipmentAssists guests getting into and out of all modes of transportPresents guests with quality, accurate information during the tourPresents guests with safety information prior to boarding the canoesPilots the canoe in a manner that ensures the safety of all guests and staffAdheres to tour timingEnsures that guests are outfitted with the proper safety equipmentMaintains and properly stores gearGreets the guests on the pier and escorts them to/from the boatWatches for wildlife throughout the tour and assists guests with picture takingMaintains the cleanliness of the boatADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: As assigned by managementALL POSITIONS IN COMPANY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:Adhering to all company policiesStriving to accomplish goals discussed with management during any evaluationsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities related to canoeing/kayakingMust be able to work on the waterExcellent communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tactSkilled in guest attentiveness as demonstrated by responsiveness to the needs and wants of our guestsSkilled in maintaining a positive attitude at all times even when handling difficult and/or stressful situationsAbility to memorize, recall, and present information and factsAbility to make oral presentations that engage an audienceAbility to initiate interaction with guestsAbility to work well within diverse groups to achieve common goalsAbility to be detail-oriented and use good judgment when it comes to safetyAbility to work in a fast paced work environmentAbility to assume and complete tasks without direction and with little supervisionQUALIFICATIONS:Valid driver’s license or the ability to attain oneAt minimum CPR and First Aid certification must be held with the ability to obtain WFR or WAFA certification.Ability to pass a Coast Guard drug testAbility to work irregular work schedulesENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:All work is performed outside, so will be subject to possible adverse weather conditions and variations in temperature.Will be subject to noise, to include but not limited to, constant engine noiseWill be subject to dust, odors, and contact with water and/or other liquidsWill be subject to hazardous conditions (working with different machinery, etc.)PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB:Must be able to lift and carry a 40lb weight for a distance of 200 feetPosition involves frequent (usually at least 2.5 hours a day but no more than 5.5 hours a day) standing, walking, handling objects, grasping items, & manipulating machinery and small itemsPosition involves occasional (usually no more than 2.5 hours a day) sitting, carrying, balancing, bending, stooping, and kneelingNote: The statements in this document are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees.
