With an annual operating budget of $100MM and over 700 employees nationwide, our organization seeks an experienced Payroll Director.

Position Overview:
The Payroll Director has overall responsibility for all activities of the payroll function for the organization and is the lead spokesperson for the payroll department, regarding audits, liaison with Human Resources, internal and external stakeholders. Operational responsibilities include timely and accurate payroll processing, tax impounds, benefits and PTO accruals, chief liaison with our HRIS/payroll vendor and program leadership within the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct payroll operations for bi-weekly payroll cycle including remote workforce.
Establish and oversee payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements.
Design short- and long- term strategies for continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery operations.
Keep stakeholders informed of changes in payroll laws and regulations and develop implementation plans for required changes to operations.
Oversee accuracy of tax impounds, benefit calculations and all necessary functions for the department.
Maintain payroll data files and develop management reports using payroll software and excel.
Assists with external and governmental audits with respect to document requests.
Prepare 941 reconciliation, maintain benefit code and other payroll database tables.
Oversee pay cycle and supervise two staff.
Team leader for payroll software implementation and upgrades.
Effectively communicate with staff and leadership around business considerations impacting payroll.
Assists the Controller as requested.

Reports to: Controller
Qualifications:
Proven track record of managing payroll operations across multiple states and a remote workforce.
Ability to solve problems and respond to questions.
Excellent customer service.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high level of responsiveness.
Experience with payroll systems, including implementation of new systems.
Excellent excel and data base reporting skills.
BA degree.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
This position requires use of a computer and telephone.
