Assignment Location:
This Agent position is assigned to the southeast region of Ohio and includes the following counties: Athens, Belmont, Coshocton, Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Gallia, Guernsey, Harrison, Hocking, Jackson, Jefferson, Knox, Lawrence, Licking, Megis, Monroe, Morgan, Morrow, Muskingham, Noble, Perry, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton and Washington. The headquarter county location assigned for this position is either Guernsey, Jackson, Lawrence, Muskingham, Noble, Pike, Ross, or Scioto county. The final candidate selected for this position is required to live in or relocate to Guernsey, Jackson, Lawrence, Muskingham, Noble, Pike, Ross, or Scioto county within 180 days from effective date of hire.
What You’ll Do:
Agents work from a residential home office and are provided a state vehicle for official Board of Pharmacy business. Agents play a critical role in fulfilling the mission of the Board of Pharmacy by being actively involved in the regulation and enforcement of laws governing the distribution of legal drugs in Ohio.
Investigate drug law violations pertaining to Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, & federal regulations to confirm allegations for administrative or criminal action (e.g., interview involved parties/persons, obtain confessions, examine medical & prescription records, audit drug purchase & dispensing records, & collect & preserve evidence)
Initiate formal Board action & investigate complaints of alleged violations based on information received
Monitor enforcement activities of licensees on probation
Request & serve Board of Pharmacy subpoenas
Conduct undercover investigations
Coordinate enforcement activities with & assists law enforcement agencies to expedite prosecution of violators
Prepare written reports of findings

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate program core coursework in law enforcement, law or health care related field; 30
mos. exp. commissioned law enforcement officer; valid driver’s license.

Or completion of associate core program in law enforcement or health related program; 36 mos. exp. conducting health care related investigations or 36 mos. exp. in drug law enforcement; valid driver’s license.

Or 54 mos. exp. as commissioned law enforcement officer with exp. conducting criminal &/or civil investigations; valid driver’s license.

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Knowledge of human relations; agency policies & procedures (i.e. Ohio State Board of Pharmacy standard operating procedures)*; government structure & process (i.e. Chapter 119 public hearings, local & federal criminal procedures); interviewing; state & federal laws regulating practice of pharmacy (i.e. Administrative & criminal law including but not related to Ohio Administrative Code Sections 4729, 3719 & Ohio Revised Code Sections 2925, 3715, 3719). Skill in operation of firearm; covert surveillance equipment/devices*; state vehicle; computer & business office software applications (e.g. Microsoft office & agency specific programs). Ability to deal with many variables & determine specific action; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; calculate fractions, decimals & percentages; develop complex reports & position papers; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; handle sensitive inquiries from & contacts with pharmacists, government officials & general public.
