Position : Photo Editor of Sportswear and Kids
Job Description : The Patagonia Creative team is a full-service in-house agency providing design, editorial, photographic, and video content, as well as developing and maintaining the visual identity of the brand. As the Photo Editor for the Sportswear and Kids categories, you are responsible for determining appropriate photography for each assigned project based on direction from the project partners, such as Marketing and the Art Directors. You will work closely with the Design and Edit teams to build the overall look, feel and vibe of each assigned piece. Plus, following the project through with Production to ensure the accurate placement and printing of photographs. Utilizing our mission that “We are in business to save the home planet”, you will help elevate the environmental issues and impacts of the apparel industry through a variety of sport cultures, art and photo influences.
What You’ll Do
Management of all photo submissions to the department.
Responsible for managing the flow of photo data throughout the design process.
Responsible for managing the Company’s seasonal photo needs by identifying appropriate photographers to shoot with, and create deadlines which produce accurate and timely work with diversity and representation in mind.
Track and locate of all images in the asset system.
Provide back-up support to the Photo Librarian for the import of all imagery into Portfolio.
Responsible for managing a budget.
Write up Statement of Work documents with appropriate compensation and rights acquisition and initiating invoicing process.
Work with Designers and various Clients to find the most effective photo for each assigned project.
Work with category teams on ideation for marketing campaigns.
Work with other creative teams on identifying stories in the editorial world.
Research caption information and model releases for published photos as needed.
Identify new photographic talent for future use.
Assist other department members in creating photo galleries.
Responsible for the timely follow up on all outside Photographer’s inquiries.
Responsible for seeding samples to photographers.
Provide miscellaneous support to the overall Photo Department.
Willingness to participate in teaming exercises and be actively engaged in the job.
Ability to give and receive feedback as it supports the brand statements

Experience You Bring
Degree in Photography or related field.
3+ years experience in digital photography workflow.
Deep understanding of a variety of sport cultures, art and photo influences, environmental issues and impacts of the apparel industry.
Understanding the nuances around kid’s photography.
Working knowledge of Macintosh computers with demonstrated experience in the use of such programs as: Bridge, Photo Mechanic, Lightroom, Photo Shop, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel, Cumulus
Ability to translate a written creative brief into photography appropriate to a project.
Working knowledge of professional digital photography, digital workflow, terminology, and color correction
Technical knowledge of the sports the Company produces clothing for in order to recognize publishable photos.
Ability to review images with a technical understanding of image reproduction.
Knowledge of design procedures from the comping process through the printing process.
Extreme attention to detail.
Proven ability to establish and maintain schedules.
Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job
Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
