Position : Playroom Assistant
Job Description : Job Summary:
The Playroom Assistant works under the supervision of the Child Life Specialist to establish, implement and maintain a therapeutic environment in the playroom. They document program attendees, maintain a safe and appropriate play space, supervise volunteers, clean toys and playroom, assist with art activities, assist with special events and other activities as required.
Position Requirements:
Education: Associate’s Degree
Experience: 1 yr working with children required; hospital inpatient setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Able to explain playroom guidelines, policies related to patient safety and infection control to children, families, volunteers and staff; able to maintain a safe environment; able to direct volunteers as needed; able to communicate effectively with Child Life staff regarding issues arising in the playroom
Competencies: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of all ages; communicate and understand hospital policy and procedure related to safety, infection control and privacy
Decision Making Required: Needs to know how to maintain safe environment, and role to assume in a code or other hospital situation
Physical Requirements:
Sit: Up to 8 hours/day
Stand/Walk: 3-6 hours
Bend/Stoop: Up to 3 hours
Reach: Up to 3 hours
Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 8 hrs
Lift/Push/Pull: 15 lbs
This job requires the ability to hear alarms clients and/or instruction. The ability to see accurately from 20 inches to 20-ft. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function of this position.

Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift, 40 hrs/week Mon-Fri
