The Program Associate will work with the Watershed Protection Team – a Program Director, three Program Officers, a Program Assistant and communications and evaluation support – to develop, administer and manage $33 M annually in grants to organizations working to improve and sustain stewardship of the Delaware River Watershed.The Program Associate will provide significant substantive support across the full scope of the Watershed Protection Program operations.Specific Responsibilities:· producing research and analysis to support strategic planning, grant development, and program management;· assisting with the documentation, analysis, and assessment of WSP work – including through the use of the Foundation’s customized Salesforce platform;· assisting with the development and preparation of presentations and reports for external and internal audiences;· assisting in organizing, managing, and documenting meetings and convenings; and· assisting in the development and management of relationships with grant seekers, grantees, and other external stakeholders.Expected CompetenciesThe Program Associate position requires the following capabilities:· Ability to effectively manage complex projects from conception to conclusion;· Ability to simultaneously support multiple projects with different deadlines and requirements;· Ability to take direction while also exercising appropriate initiative in identifying and engaging challenges and opportunities;· Ability to absorb and analyze significant amounts of complex information;· Ability to produce well-researched, well-written analytical documents that communicate technical concepts to both technical as well as non-technical audiences;· Ability to make effective oral presentations in one-on-one as well as larger group settings;· Ability to build and manage effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders – including the ability to communicate with both clarity and diplomacy;· Ability to collaborate effectively in teams comprised of diverse personalities and interests; and· Ability to exercise prudent judgment with sensitive materials and confidential information.Education, Training and ExperienceThe successful candidate will possess a graduate degree in a relevant discipline, or an undergraduate degree and at least four years of relevant work experience.Please note that, pursuant to the Foundation’s COVID-19 mitigation protocols, individuals must be fully vaccinated, including any applicable boosters, upon commencing employment, subject to legally required exemptions (i.e., a medical condition, disability or sincerely-held religious belief).The William Penn Foundation values diversity, inclusion, and equity as matters of fairness and effectiveness.
