Job Description : SALARY: $20.00 per hourOPENING DATE: 3/15/2022CLOSING DATE: 4/5/2022 11:59 p.m.UNIT: Grants and Special ProjectsDEPARTMENT: Educational Opportunity FundREPORTS TO: Director, Educational Opportunity FundThis position helps new EOF scholars make the transition to Middlesex College via the Summer Scholar Institute, and observes and tracks student’s behavior, academic progress, and overall development. The Summer Institute Program Coordinator also serve as a liaison between students and assigned EOF counselors/advisors.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides support for acclimating first-year scholars in areas of college life, rules/regulations, code of conduct, career preparedness, social interactions, and any other areas of transition.Facilitates student development sessions in collaboration with EOF professional staff.Organizes and facilitates activities on designated day or evenings.Monitors student behavior and activity to ensure safety and inclusion.Assists EOF Staff in the development of academic and student development workshops.Utilizes MS Teams, Zoom, and other online resources including, the navigation of an Academic Audit, Sequence Chart, and other online features of the systems to respond to basic advisement questions.Assists scholars with completing the financial aid process as needed.Plans, implements, markets, and evaluates workshops during the Summer Scholar InstituteRefers scholars to academic resources, including Tutoring and Writing Services, STEM Tutoring, Career Services, and other resources on campus.Shares information regarding clubs, organizations, and other campus-sponsored activities to promote learning, growth, and opportunities for student success.Meets with EOF staff on a daily basis for program planning and updates.Attends weekly supervision meetings as requested.Incorporated Social Media platforms to engage and communicate with scholars.Performs other duties as assigned.*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *High school diploma or equivalentAdmission into an undergraduate program at a two-year or four-year institution, with good academic standingSelf-motivation, with an ability to innovate, and a passion for working with Educational Opportunity Fund scholarsComfort with working independently and in group settingsStrong leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle multiple priorities at once and to complete tasks with minimal direct supervision*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: *Bachelor’s degreeExcellent technological skills, including Self Service, Social Media, and Microsoft OfficePrevious experience at college level tutoring, mentoring, and/or some other similar experienceStrong customer service skills*SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: ***Temporary, 3-month position starting in May 2022*SCHEDULE: Monday- Thursday, *8:00 a.m.to 5:15 p.m., with some weekends/evenings required during specific events.This is a specially funded position, dependent for its existence upon federal, State, or other non-College operating funds, and is not funded pursuant to the regular College budget. Continued employment is always contingent upon satisfactory performance and College needs. Grant funded positions are also contingent upon continued funding. This appointment is for the specified period only. Employment beyond the expiration date of the grant is subject to appropriate provisions of existing collectively bargained agreements in effect at the time for employees covered by those agreements.Job Type: Full-timePay: $20.00 per hour
