This entry level position is located at the Mexia State Supported Living Center warehouse but Supply Services also serves patients/residents at 22 other facilities around the State, so there are opportunities for growth and movement to other parts of Texas if desired. The Health and Specialty Care System Warehouse Specialist is a key position for Supply Services with essential functions offering opportunities to gain experience related to using modern receiving software systems, warehouse equipment and the logistics to assure the patients/residents we serve are supplied their needed supplies for daily living. The Warehouse Specialist performs logistical inventory and warehouse work. Work involves electronically controlling inventory, processing replenishments of stock, putting away goods, rotating stock, pulling orders from inventory stock bins, delivering goods to state facilities, and maintaining warehouse security. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Supply Services warehouses operate in a safe yet quick moving, effective and efficient environment! This is a physically active position where creativity, strength and discipline are important factors to assist with the heavy physical work involved. While the main focus of this position is movement of supplies, this position will also be cross trained to learn new and exciting skills including using the newest up-to-date receiving software systems, handheld devices for inventory control and warehouse equipment. Essential Job Functions:
1. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

2. Picks and delivers warehouse stock to assigned units and departments on a scheduled or special needs basis either manually or with appropriate warehouse lifting devices. (30%)

3. Receives and assists with receiving shipments of commodities and equipment to include warehouse stock and special orders. Duties related to receiving include inspecting, counting, and checking items for compliance or damage and making notations on proper documents in accordance with the Supply Services Departmental Procedures. (15%)

4. Delivers non-stock items to ordering departments in order to provide users with supplies and/or equipment in a timely manner. (15%)

5. Loads and unloads supplies and equipment to and from delivery vehicles. Uses forklift, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. (10%)

6. Enters data in MIMS and CAPPS Financials computer programs daily in order to provide accurate and timely issuance and receiving of warehouse stock and nonstock items. (5%)

7. Conducts inventories, reconciles variances and maintains inventory of warehouse stock supplies to include analyzing reports and may generate replenishment requisitions. Provides reports related to receiving and inventory control. (10%)

8. Inspects and cleans warehouse to ensure a neat, orderly and safe work area. (5%)

9. Answers telephone, handles walk up customers and relays any messages or pertinent information to the warehouse supervisor. Provides information regarding status of delivery of warehouse stock orders as requested and other related warehouse inquiries. (5%)

10. Employee actively participates and/or serves in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. (5%)

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of general warehouse operations to include shipping, receiving, issuing, customer service and inventory control.

Skill in the use of mechanical lifting devices used in warehouse operations to move, transfer and deliver goods.

Ability to review warehouse rules, regulations, and policies for compliance and to follow departmental policy instructions for inventory control guidelines.

Ability to use a handheld device for the purpose of managing warehouse stock and receiving goods.

Skill in use of operating a computer using inventory control and receiving software’s.

Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Valid Class C Drivers License (Texas Drivers License preferred) to be checked yearly for any violations or suspensions.

Initial Selection Criteria:
1.Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.

2. Experience with use of integrated personal computer application.

3. Experience in manage goods and use material handling equipment.
