The Salvation Army is seeking a Program Manager to provide Leadership for our Women’s Shelter at our Seattle Social Services Department. This role responsible for the implementation of program policies, and protocols. Oversees the daily operations of WOS while working closely with the KCS Assistant Director.The Salvation Army is an inspiring place to work. We welcome you on finding your place to offer opportunities for people in need!The Program Manager works closely both clients and employees of the Women’s Shelter to ensure overall operations of WOS, the Program Manager is responsible for assuring contract compliance, staff training, as well as ensuring the overall safety of volunteers, staff, and clients. This position will receive supervision from the Janitorial Supervisor.This position is full-time and Exempt and located in Seattle, Washington.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain communication with KCS Assistant Director on all contracts, personnel, grievance, IRs, panel reviews, and new contact with outside agencies for potential partnerships.Direct Management, operations, and supervision of the WOS programServes as Primary contact point working with officials or funding for existing relationships.Maintain proactive relations with other service organizations.Participate in the submission of grants, contracts, and proposals related to WOS.Provide assistance to guests to ensure a safe environment, including compliance with rules and policies.Maintain a list of community resources available to guests and individuals calling for assistance and disperse the information in a friendly and business-like manner.Respond to crisis and inquiry telephone calls by providing support, information, and referrals to other appropriate social service agencies.Represent Salvation Army programs to other community agencies and representatives in a respectful and positive manner.Conduct periodic walking inspections of all areas of the facility, for the purpose of identifying and initiating appropriate action (correction, reporting, etc.) of hazards, inappropriate behavior, needed repairs, or other notable condition.Respond to emergency situations that may arise, making independent decisions within policy guidelines, as necessary.Provide crisis intervention and institute security procedures should a critical or threatening situation arise. Provide timely and appropriate notification to police, fire, emergency medical, and supervisory authorities.Work with the Business Manager on budget management and contract compliance of the program.Provide orientation, support, and supervision to staff and volunteers.Assist with the orientation and training of new staff, volunteers, and interns.Work cooperatively with other Salvation Army staff and programs.Participate in staff meetings.Create and maintain physical files, as needed.Generate reports, as needed.Maintain case records and required forms and reports in the prescribed format.Prepare general correspondence as requested, including form letters.Perform other administrative functions as requested by DirectorComply with Salvation Army procedural requirements, including those set forth in the Policy & Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Work Experience: College degree preferred or 2 years equivalent work experience in related fieldHS Diploma or GED requiredMinimum of one-year experience in public contact / Customer ServiceMinimum of two years administrative experienceMinimum of two years Program Management ExperienceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: An ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.Demonstrates a commitment to the values of equity and inclusion by honoring diverse characteristics and expressions of personal identity.Knowledge and understanding of financial and accounting principles to make accurate budgeting requests and decisions.Detail-oriented – attention to detail requiredSelf-starterTeam playerStrong use of the English language in verbal and written communicationExcellent interpersonal skillsEffective communication and telephone skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressureCustomer service mindsetGeneral accounting and bookkeeping knowledgeStrong analytical and research skillsProficient typing skills (60 words per minute)Ability and willingness to keep the information confidentialAbility to pass a “Protecting the Mission” background check, as required by Salvation Army Standards.Ability to successfully complete Salvation Army child safety/vulnerable adult (“Protecting the Mission”) background/reference check procedure.Willingness to abide by the Salvation Army’s drug and alcohol policy.Software-Related Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelMicrosoft PowerPoint, helpfulKnowledge with the use of email programs – OutlookWorking knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, walk, stand bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.Ability to operate the telephone.Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.The information in this job description indicates the general nature and level of work performed by an employee in this classification.
