Job Description : JOB OPPORTUNITYRangerThe Grand Canyon Council is seeking candidates for the Heard Scout Pueblo Ranger Position. The Camp Ranger lives on property and is responsible for safety, security, maintenance & construction, and overall appearance of the camp. The Ranger serves as a goodwill ambassador and is capable of building relationships within both the Scouting and local communities.RESPONSIBILITIES: Protection and control of property and people.Supervise all use of the property.Patrol the property as necessary for trespassers, vandalism, and fire.Ensure a safe and healthy camp environment, know emergency procedures, adhering to the Guide to Safe Scouting and BSA Camp Standards. * Operation of physical facilities and propertyKeep all physical property and equipment, including tractors, mowers, trucks, and vehicles in safe operating condition.Be particularly alert to conditions that effect health, safety, sanitation, and good housekeeping practices.Ensure all facilities are properly cleaned and prepared prior to campers’ and guests’ arrival, addressing any immediate needs as they arise.Work closely with the Director/Assistant Director of Support Services, and Camping Committee for effective facility operations and related matters. * Maintenance of physical facilities and propertyImplement a comprehensive, preventative, and proactive facilities maintenance schedule.Make regular inspections to determine essential repairs and corrective actions required. Perform general repairs as authorized.Maintain and improve property landscaping according to plans set forth by the Properties committee under council direction. * Business responsibilitiesComply with established Council business procedures, including accounting for petty cash and material purchases.Submit regular reports and maintain essential business records.Supervise maintenance contractors as assigned. * RelationshipsMaintain harmonious relationships with Scouting volunteers, staff, local officials, and government services, adjoining landowners, and neighboring communities.Develop and grow relationships with local vendors to best represent Grand Canyon Council.Develop strong relationships with the Council Employees, with a focus of growth and expansion to support the camp. * ProgramAssist with Council program and activities as requested.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate with experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, vehicle maintenance, basic engineering, basic architecture, construction, and janitorial experience are desirable. Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, utilize technology and Microsoft Office, and work with a minimum of supervision.
