The Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Communications Manager to support the development of communications strategies and initiatives for military aircraft programs within the Air Dominance division. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the manager will supervise a team focused on current and future business campaigns within a matrixed organizational model. This position requires the candidate to have a deep understanding of the role strategic communications plays in the government procurement process while leading activities based on an objectives-based approach. The following skills will be needed for the candidate to be successful:
Strategic Communications Planning: Proven ability to develop outcomes-based strategic communications plans with high-level of proficiency in execution.
Integrated Communications: Understands how to use the full-breadth of communications channels to tell compelling stories that positively impact objectives.
Measurement and Analysis: Ability to use analysis tools and articulate actions undertaken to meet strategic objectives.
Project Management: Skilled at tracking, reporting and managing the tasks others.
The role will also require the candidate to be able to independently and confidently interact with executive leadership and peers using excellent presentation and writing skills that are clear and convincing. This will require demonstration of the following:
Track record of leadership success with substantial projects
The ability to translate the organization’s business goals and technical, often complex information to a diverse set of audiences using a variety of media
Skilled at adapting to rapidly evolving priorities and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting schedule and quality requirements
Innovative and creative approaches for reaching target audiences and achieving and measuring desired outcomes/actions
Proven success in leading teams and mentoring, collaborating and developing skills in others
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with eight years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices or six years of communications experience with Master-level degree
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability and willingness to travel 25%
U.S. citizen and ability to obtain security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising or related field
Communications experience in the defense industry or Department of Defense
Media relations and content development experience
Strong business acumen; ability to understand the broader business impacts, provide recommendation, and clearly communicate to senior level leadership
Salary Range: $118,600 USD – $178,000 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
