Job Description : Overview:
The Computational Biology Group at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is currently seeking a Computational Scientist. The candidate will be involved in cutting-edge research focused on applications including protein design and informatics to automate physics-informed simulations data to predict key features of biomolecules with potential application in developing new AI/ML methods for understanding biomolecular function.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will assist in computational tool development for fully autonomous design, statistical analysis of high-throughput multi-omics data, and work directly in interdisciplinary teams including chemists, bioinformaticians, computer scientists, and software developers. The position involves work with high-performance computing and cloud platforms, and data integration methods. The research scientist will contribute to large, multidisciplinary research programs focused on fundamental and biomedical sciences and will assist in computational method development and validation; work directly with experimentalists, and contribute to presentations and journal articles.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA with 0-1 years of experience MS/MA with 0 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate will have an interdisciplinary background in computational sciences, applied math, biophysics, analysis and interpretation of high-throughput omics data, development and application of machine learning and statistical methods.
Experience with computational modeling, and simulation data integration to develop graph models for the protein structural data.
Experience with Linux, HPC/cloud computing, and high-level programming language (e.g. Python, R, and Matlab).
Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and packages (e.g. regression and classification algorithms, supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms, random Forest, support vector machine, neural networks, deep learning, sci-kit Learn, MATLAB, Theano, Torch, TensorFlow) Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working individually and in an interdisciplinary team environment.
