Job Description : ABOUT: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Administrator prepares requests for proposals for all maintenance and improvement projects for our community. Supervises and coordinates with contractors for contract compliance and quality of work. Assists other departments in the preparation of requests for proposals for the purchase of capital items.RESPONSIBILITIES: Studies road widening and rezoning proposed plans, and provides monthly updates to the Executive Director. Meets with residents to review and explain plans as needed.Provides written notices to impacted clusters as to when and what type of cluster and/or concrete asphalt work will be performed.Supervises and coordinates work, materials and schedules for volunteers performing community service projects. Reports proposals and results to Executive Director.Provides for annual inspection of all tot lots and execution of maintenance and safety plans and provides detailed reports to the Executive Director.Oversees the administration of truck fleet including tags, titles, permits, decals, replacements and resale of old trucks.Notifies Open Space Committee and impacted residents, when applicable, of tree removal projects.Performs necessary research with Fairfax County to meet pond and dam maintenance requirements.Assists in establishing Departmental and cluster budgets in coordination with cluster committees and implements the programs that result.Meets with residents to solve and advise (on an informal basis) turf and tree maintenance issues.Performs other duties as required.EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE and/or SKILL LEVEL REQUIREMENTSBA/BS in Parks and Recreation Maintenance Management, Purchasing and Contracting or a related degree preferred.3-5 years equivalent experience in all phases of landscape, turf maintenance, road and asphalt maintenance preferred.Five years equivalent experience in Purchasing and Contracting preferred.Excellent supervisory administrative and communication skills required.Experience in budget preparation.Proficiency with word-processing programs and E-mail.Holds a valid Driver’s License with driving record acceptable by insurance carriers.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSNormal or corrected vision and hearing.Physically able to lift at least 60 lbs. And carry that weight at least 25 feet.Stamina to walk in excess of 5 miles dailyAbility to negotiate difficult terrain and walk up hills.Motor skills to safely and effectively operate ground maintenance and snow plow equipment onan as needed basis.Ability to verbally communicate with others in a normal manner.Ability to enter, drive and exit a full-sized pickup truck or related vehicleJob Type: Full-timePay: $60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:Fairfax, VA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Education:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Experience:Maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)Parks and Recreation: 1 year (Preferred)Association Management: 1 year (Preferred)CAI: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location: One location
