Position : Guidance Counselor
Job Description : The School Guidance Counselor will work to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As a vital member of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all.
The School Guidance Counselor are certified individual to who help students succeed in school and plan their career. An integral part of the total education system the school counselor will help students form healthy goals, mindsets, and behaviors. With the aid of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, to practice perseverance, to develop time management and study skills, and to learn self-motivation and self-direction habits.
The School Guidance Counselor will demonstrate knowledge of counseling theory and techniques, demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development, establish goals for the counseling program appropriate to the setting and the students being served, demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations and of resources both within and beyond the school and district. Additionally, planning the counseling program, integrated with the regular school program, develops a plan to evaluate the counseling program, while creating an environment of respect and rapport and establishing a culture for productive communication. And, establishing standards of conduct and contributing to the culture for student behavior throughout the school, assessing student needs, assisting students and teachers in the formulation of academic, personal/social, and career plans, based on knowledge of student needs. All while, using counseling techniques in individual and classroom programs and maintaining records and submitting them in a timely fashion.
