AEPAC offers a distinct combination of sensitivity to place and history, technical proficiency, and historical preservation knowledge.Job Summary: The Historic Preservation Specialist. This position works closely with the State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD), National Park Service and other federal agencies.The Historic Preservation Specialist will apply their expertise of historic preservation policy and cultural resources management to ensure AEPAC’s activities comply with federal historic preservation laws and regulations such as the National Historic Preservation Act, (Section 106 Regulations (36 CFR)).The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Historic Preservation, Archaeology, History, Architectural History or a related subject or field, and hold or be eligible to obtain a Secretary of Interior (SOI) Qualification.General Duties and Responsibilities: Research and Document Historic Properties within Projects’ Area of Potential Effects (APE)Create Cultural Landscape ReportsHistoric Nominations FormsCompletion of HABS/HAER Reports and FormsIdentify Project-Specific Needs for Architectural and/or Archaeological Surveys/InvestigationsPrepare and submit detailed consultation packages to State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) in accordance with project-specific federal and/or state regulationsCommunicate with clients regarding project needs, regulations, subconsultant progress (as applicable), and project clearancesReview team project submissions for thoroughness and oversee their submission to the SHPD for project clearanceUpdate Environmental Review reports with appropriate documentation for project clearanceMaintain knowledge of changing federal and state requirements as related to Historic PreservationAdditional Responsibilities May Include: Create construction documents using Auto-Cad and/or RevitCreate Architectural Designs Based on Client Input and FeedbackCompletion of National Register of Historic Places FormsSection 106 Compliance MonitoringArchitectural Analysis and SurveysHABS reportsCommunication with the Hawaii State Historic Preservation DivisionGrant writingHistoric Treatment RecommendationsQualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Architecture, History, Architectural History, or Archaeology.Secretary of the Interior’s Qualified as defined in 36 CFR Part 61 is a PlusMinimum 2 years’ experience in researching and writing reports and consultation letters to State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation ActStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong time management skillsHigh level of attention to detailAbility to anticipate needs and work independently and as part of an integrated teamJob Type: Full-timePay: $65,000.00 – $85,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftHolidaysMonday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:Honolulu, HI 96813: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)Education:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Experience:Revit: 1 year (Preferred)Historic Presevation: 2 years (Preferred)Work Location: One location
