Job Description : Recruiting for: Materials Testing Technician
Location: Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Kake, Aleutian Islands, and elsewhere in Alaska
Position Description:
The Materials Testing Technician reports directly to the Project Engineer and is responsible for sampling and testing a variety of materials at the project site or in a laboratory. He or she will perform testing on soils, sand, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, cement-treated bases, and other materials, and will report the results after performing calculations. The Materials Testing Technician must ensure all reports are accurate, timely, and completed in accordance with contract documents and the Alaska Construction Manual. The Materials Testing Technician will often work without direct oversight for extended periods and must be comfortable working on remote project sites that may require travel by boat, aircraft, or off-road vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least two seasons of experience in construction inspection, materials testing, or equivalent. In lieu of two seasons’ experience, formal education in construction management, construction technologies, or engineering may be considered.
Valid driver’s license
The ideal candidate will possess:
Experience working on airport, highway, bridge, and/or marine projects-
Experience working for or on behalf of state and federal government agencies.
WAQTC or equivalent materials sampling and testing certification/experience.
Nuclear density gauge certification and experience- American Concrete Institute certification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Compensation:
Hourly wage DOE, overtime-eligible

Lodging, per diem, travel reimbursement for work assignments outside of the home city
Eligible for annual performance bonus
