Position : Park Ranger/Operations & Trails Coordinator
Job Description : Park Ranger/Operations & Trails Coordinator – Whitman County Parks Department.
Perform supervisory park and trail maintenance; park management; interpretive program, coordinate, plan and implement comprehensive County trail programs, to include the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail, Colfax Trail, Elberton , and other related work for Klemgard Park under the direction of the Supervisor and Director. To serve as the resident caretaker in the residence provided at Klemgard Park. Work is performed in both an office and field setting involving weekends and evenings. Manages seasonal employees, volunteers and court appointed individuals. Public contact to include visitor assistance and monitoring/enforcement of park rules and policies. Prepares reports, bids, grants and correspondence. Orders and maintains supplies, materials and equipment. Implements park risk management and safety programs. Assists in other areas as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS include Three years of experience in facilities and grounds maintenance work; or substituting on a month-for-month basis, any experience, education, or training which would provide the level of knowledge and ability required. College degree in Parks/Recreation or related field is desired. Knowledge of parks and recreation management is highly desired. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Public Operator’s License for weed control; Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid and CPR certification. Successfully pass a drivers and background check. STARTING SALARY: $3,286 per month plus housing, DOQ plus benefits. CLOSING DATE: Open till filled. First Review Date: March 23, 2022.
