Position : Production Manager-2nd Shift
Job Description : Maintains a safe work environment and executes work with the highest level of quality. Mentors Production workers on the fabrication and assembly. Expected to perform the following duties of management through assignments and be able to motivate the appropriate employees.
Primary Responsibilities:
Safety
Safety conscious and always looking for preventative safety measures
Trains and monitors employees on iDeal Aluminum safety procedures and techniques for all production processes and movement of materials in/out/around the shop
Keeps Plant Manager informed of issues and work processes that could compromise the safety of the team and/or the quality of the fabrication
Leads and expects high housekeeping standards.
Quality
Executes and mandates the highest level of quality.
Works with Supervisors Leads and Managers to bridge gaps in expectation versus execution.
Helps coordinate in-process inspection with Quality to ensure accountability based on work difficulty, level of experience and historical quality issues.
Maintains and monitors appropriate documentation on all projects
Work with other shops on best practices.
Production
Ensures ALL steps to a work process are included and it is understandable to the team members
Mentors Production Employees and Leads on best practices as it relates to Safety, Quality and Production
Assists with scheduling of production.
Understands what needs to be done on a daily basis to keep the work moving through the production process
Executes schedule with a sense of urgency without compromising safety or quality
Assists in the organization of work to be completed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Communicates with employees regularly, seeks their input on issues in regard to problem solving and coaches the team on proper practices.
Gives adequate direction, counsels employees on performance issues/concerns, provides assistance and/or training where appropriate
Communicates concerns of employee performance of team to Plant Manager and assists in formulating improvement plans for those employees
Clarifies responsibility and expected results for assigned personnel
Delegates responsibility to employees where appropriate
Resolves technical problems and challenges by involving the appropriate people in order to keep production moving, meet/exceed schedule and to stay within budget
Utilizes established procedures and systems to track work-in-process for labor hours and materials
Effectively manages assigned employees in the shop
Initiates disciplinary actions where necessary according to established procedures
Keeps current on projects and overall shop performance, understands and monitors department budget, works with Plant Manager to resolve problems and plans for improvements
Work Relationships and Scope
Second Shift Employees will report to the Production Manager. Production Manager will report to Plant Manager and work closely with Chief Operation Officer.

Accountability of shop performance (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Asset Utilization)
Meets performance/productivity goals and is within budget
Meet customer satisfaction with quality and delivery
Effectiveness of interpersonal communications and the ability to establish and maintain the trust and respect of customers, management, and employees
Timeliness and adherence to deadlines and schedules for meeting customer needs
Quality of business decisions made
Maintains the integrity of confidential business information, conducts business ethically
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Employee must have at least 3 years of experience in manufacturing setting
Supervisory skills are required (coach, time management, leadership, delegation, training, assign work, follow up, etc.)
Must be able to read and understand stop drawings and erection drawings. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals) and basic computer skills (Windows applications, Word, Excel) are necessary
Employee must have legible handwriting and ability to write basic instructions
Employee must be able to deal effectively with time pressures, long hours, rapidly changing priorities, and stress
Employee must have a good track record of conducting business honestly and ethically
Educational Requirements
Employee must have at least a high school education or GED
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or experience to equal degree
Working Conditions
Work is performed mostly in plant buildings or outside in the yard or production bays, with some office time (about 80/20, but varies from week to week). There is regular exposure to weather, dirt, noise, moving equipment and heavy material, and other possible hazardous conditions. The minimal work schedule is 40 – 50+ hours a week depending on the work needs.
