Job Description : Join our dynamic organization to support the empowerment of people with disabilities leading to the enjoyment of self-determined and full lives.
Full Life Hawai’i is seeking a Program Director to oversee and bring leadership to the development, implementation, operation, and administration of all programs and services that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Hawai’i Island. The Program Director is responsible for staffing, training, programming, maintaining an operating budget, and leading a professional team.
This position is based in Hilo, HI, and is responsible for island-wide services.
Relocation assistance may be provided to applicants relocating to the Hilo area from other parts of Hawai’i.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Recruit, hire, train and supervise program coordinators, employment specialists, Registered Nurses, and other program administrators;
Observe and document staff performance and provide coaching and guidance on a continuous basis;
Coordinate with QA and Training manager to assure staff development and training including orientation for all new leadership staff and coordinating new and updated training for all direct support and supervisory staff;
Assure program compliance to contracts, standards, state, federal, and local laws and requirements;
Coordinate with QA and Training manager to maintain quality assurance programs including incident reporting and developing corrective action plans;
Assuring Full Life’s planning processes and written documents follow person-centered thinking and self-determination principles;
Lead technology projects and support staff with ongoing use of organizational technology related to programs (electronic service documentation, Electronic Visit Verification, SharePoint, etc.)
Available to take emergency calls from staff or program participants and families/guardians after hours;
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and organization of the program files;
Conduct regular quality assurance which includes monitoring records;
Attend and participate in community meetings/coalitions by networking and collaborating to further the agency mission;
Minimum Qualifications include:
Must have a minimum of two years of supervisory experience, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social sciences or education and one (1) year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field with two (2) years verifiable experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or the elderly; or RN licensed in the State of Hawaii.
The ideal candidate will have a history of progressively responsible management and supervision experience in providing services to people with disabilities. A working understanding of the Hawaii I/DD Medicaid Waiver Program is preferred.

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
Able to prioritize multiple tasks, work with limited supervision, and mediate and problem solve.
Interface positively with participants, family members, State of Hawaii agency partners, community members, as well as all departments and employees within the organization and represent the Agency in a professional manner.
Communicate effectively and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Have strong skills with technology.
Be available after business hours and weekends for emergency situations.
Have reliable transportation and be willing to use your personal vehicle for frequent travel.
