Job Description : Position: Merchant Stocker Classification: Service AssistantPosition SummaryStocks and straightens merchandise for sale in the warehouse. Clears and cleans aisles, assists members.Job Duties/Essential FunctionsSpots for Forklift Drivers to keep people out of fall-danger zone. Follows all safety and security procedures, such as lifting properly, correct compactor operation.Follows merchandising standards and practices: aligns product, collects and returns stray items, stocks to maintain high product levels.Communicates with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities. Writes list of products to be brought from steel, by forklift driver, for stocking.Uses box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility of product and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallet. Wraps or ties and tags pallets to be returned to steel.Stocks opened cases on shelves. Moves and positions pallets of merchandise using manual pallet jack. Stacks product from partial pallets onto full pallets.Sets up display models, assembling as necessary. Modifies displays for safe handing by members, e.g., bolting heavy equipment, taping blade edges.Pulls loose cardboard and slip-sheets from floor. Clears sales floor of debris and sweeps. Removes empty pallets from the sales floor. Operates cardboard baler and trash compactor.Provides prompt and courteous member service. Helps members to load large items into their cart, directs members to products, relates product status knowledge.Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machineryManual pallet jack, RTV rack, scanner, wheeled bin, trash compactor, cardboard baler, Broom, sticker marking gun, shrink wrap machine, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, box knife, MIMO.Non-Essential FunctionsAssists with front end duties as necessary.Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machineryCash register, tabletop/hand-held scanners, carts, flatbeds.Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/CertificationsRequired: Hazard Communication and JHA (initial assignment), Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course: Part 1 (within 30 days and then every year), Hazmat Universal Waste Training- Short Version (within 30 days and then every year), OptionSTOP Training (within 30 days), Level 1 Food Safety Certification (within 30 days), Food Handler’s Permit (prior to working in a foods area and only where required by state or local jurisdiction).Must be current on annual safety training within 30 days of hire.Recommended: High School Diploma or GED preferred.Customer service or comparable experience.General knowledge of AS400.Basic math skills.Other ConditionsManagement will review the Job Analysis for this position prior to a job offer.Apart from any religious or disability considerations, open availability is needed to meet the needs of the business.
