Job Description : Job title: Strategic Communications DirectorClassification: Exempt (not eligible for overtime pay)Supervisor: Chief Executive OfficerSalary: $80,000 – $95,000About Us: The Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation is a non-profit organization that champions a collaborative campaign to permanently connect, protect and restore the Florida Wildlife Corridor – a statewide network of lands and waters that supports wildlife and people.We share a passion for our mission which has led to our success as a team. We are a small, but growing organization that is highly collaborative, both internally and with an extensive team of external partners, and we’re looking to grow with the right candidate.About the Role: The Strategic Communications Director will develop and implement strategic communications plans that advance the organization’s mission while leading strategy, planning, and execution of communications that elevate the Corridor Foundation’s work among thought leaders and high-level funders in the conservation space. The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of storytelling, hands-on experience in earned media, social content development and moderation, familiarity with media and social media analytical tools, and excellent writing skills.Position Type/Work Environment: This is a full-time virtual and in-person position working 40 hours per week. The position is both remote and in-person in a coworking environment.Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years related work experience.Candidate Requirements: A love for writing.Experience developing communications, media and engagement strategies and measuring results.Experience cultivating and managing relationships with senior level executives, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and/or national media contacts.Ability to lead a cross-functional, multi organizational collaborative initiative.Experience fostering an environment of creativity and professional growth.Highly skilled in project management.Experience developing communication and engagement strategies and evaluating effectiveness of communications, including earned media.Ability to persuasively convey the mission of the Foundation to diverse groups including legislators, policy makers and the public.Excellent writing, presentation, communication, mediation, and negotiation skills.Experience and/or understanding of communication best practices.Management experience including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, manage performance, and help with conflict resolution on a multi-disciplinary team.Familiarity with data asset management software and best practices. Experience with Canto a plus.Demonstrated ability in communications planning and execution. Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.Spanish speaking and writing skills highly desired.Responsibilities: Set multi-year communications strategy and annual plans to advance the priorities of the Foundation and brand campaignManage strategic alignment and coordination between the Corridor Foundation and our brand campaign.Set annual outreach, media, and engagement goals and regularly monitor progress.Lead strategic initiatives through collaboration with senior level stakeholders to enhance overall performance in accordance with short and long-term objectives.Lead and implement an earned media strategy – including campaigns, messaging documents, press releases, talking points, presentations, briefing memos.Design and directs complex and diversified digital, print, video, events and earned media projects.Responsible for coordination and oversight of multiple contractors, locally and nationally.Set and review quarterly social media content planCreate compelling stories and messaging about the Florida Wildlife Corridor that can be used externally with key audiences and donors and amplified by the broader organization; leverages resources developed by other teams.Identify opportunities to seek funding for communications initiatives; evaluate results and develop corrective strategies.Own responsibility and accountability for meeting strategic goals.Has significant opportunity to act independently within broad program goals.Understands that decisions can commit the programs’ resources and may have program or organization-wide impact and elevates decision-making as appropriate.Provide input into departmental budget process.Serve as mentor/advisor to communication and media staff throughout organization.Employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
