Position : Student Support Specialist – High School Special Education
Job Description : Griffin School is seeking an experienced, energetic, and engaging person to provide learning support for students and special education expertise to the school community. The role includes supporting students who have needs that range from diagnosed learning disabilities to less specific needs around organization, time management, self-confidence, and anxiety.In this role, the Student Support Specialist will meet with students in an individualized setting to provide the supplemental support and coordination between teachers and parents that will help students be successful. Services vary for each student based on their individual needs and may include:Review/creation and maintenance of an individualized education planPersonalized learning support sessions during Study Hall periodsCoordination with faculty members to ensure consistent student services and special accommodationsActive communication with parents about the student’s learning experience and needsCandidates should be committed, passionate, creative, and compassionate people who have a demonstrated expertise in their subject matter and working effectively with high school students in a classroom setting. The 2022-23 school year starts for staff members in early August 2021 and ends in early June 2022 with typical school holidays throughout the year.
