OVERVIEW:
There are multiple openings for the Field Supervisor Trainee role within the Transport and Rail organization. These positions will be located in several different areas within the organization’s coverage map and will report to the respective Area Manager in Transport Operations. The successful candidate will be on a Long-Term Temporary Assignment, which lasts typically 6 –12 months and depends on development progress and/or full-time opportunity availability. The objective of the Field Supervisor Trainee Program is to develop qualified leadership candidates for supervisory and managerial positions within the Transport and Rail organization. During the training process, emphasis will be placed on developing a working knowledge of operations and inter-departmental business activities, and leadership skills. This position will require significant travel which could include extended periods of time away from home (2-3 weeks). This development program will ultimately require relocation, likely away from home location and will be based on operational need.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. After an initial training period, the incumbent assigned to this position is expected to assume the responsibilities of a Supervisor/Manager and others on a temporary basis and will perform such responsibilities at various locations for developmental purposes.
2. Assists project managers or engineers in coordination and timely completion of local construction projects; conducts inspections and monitors progress to assure compliance with plans and specifications; assures the timely and proper completion of related paperwork, and the protection of company interests.
3. Works with all support personnel, including but not limited to, Engineers, Mechanical Specialists, Electronics & Instrumentation Specialists, Health, Environmental, & Safety professionals/specialists, Human Resources advisors, Inventory, Loss, and Product Quality Control professionals, and Scheduling personnel—to ensure compliance in all areas regarding the facility’s operation.
4. Actively participates in Health, Environmental, & Safety programs and initiatives and other pertinent Company programs and initiatives.
5. Assists facility personnel in the identification and resolution of issues and problems distracting from safe and efficient operations of assigned terminal.
6. Performs complete administrative and computer duties needed at the facility. Some examples include daily reports, monthly reports, online tracking reports, computer-based training, etc.
