Position : 911 Emergency Dispatcher – Entry Level
Job Description : TEST TO BECOME AN EMERGENCY 911 DISPATCHER!
The Bothell Police Department is looking for Entry Level Public Safety Telecommunicators to answer and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for the Bothell Police Department (BPD) and Lake Forest Park Police Department (LFPPD).
What will this person do?
Interview callers and gather details in order to prioritize calls for service
Determine appropriate resources to provide and, if necessary, dispatch emergency responders
Provide detailed call information to officers as needed and monitor radio traffic
Track officer status and locations
Perform inquiries and criminal history checks through ACCESS and other computer information systems
Enter data to secured databases as requested; collect statistical data and compile data for reports
Monitor internal cameras and alarms
Process court orders and warrants
What does this person need to be successful?
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND one (1) year of customer service experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, under pressure, and in emergency and stressful situations
Skill in obtaining information from hostile or emotional callers
Communication that is clear, concise, and effective
Ability to make decisions in the absence of clear-cut guidelines
Capacity to work in both team and independent settings
Flexibility and patience when troubleshooting or working around equipment issues
Speed and accuracy entering information into a computer system
A desire to seek knowledge and a willingness to learn and grow
