POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES / REQUIREMENTS:
The Rentokil Initial (RI) business in India requires a Data Protection Officer to satisfy the pending Data Protection Law in India, the Personal Data Protection Bill. The law requires the Data Protection Officer to carry out certain functions as described and be suitably qualified. The Data Protection Officer in India will support the local business with their data protection compliance obligations. The Group Data Protection Officer will provide support, access to tools, training and guidance as required to help the India Data Protection Officer.
With reporting responsibility to the Group DPO and to the India Finance Director, the India Data Protection Officer will be a member of the wider RI Privacy team and has responsibility for supporting the Group DPO in the implementation, operation and embedding of Data Protection and Information Governance processes and procedures across RI businesses in India.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a point of contact and provide support to India under the advice and guidance of the Group DPO.
Work with the Privacy team to:
Identify business process owners;
Identify local business owners and information assets;
Complete, review and analyse information flow maps and privacy assessments, including supporting the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Assist with the continued population of the Privacy Management Support Tool and associated processes.
Assist with any audit activity required by the Group DPO to measure and report upon the compliance of RI businesses with the privacy related internal policies.
Assist with the creation and distribution of training materials and privacy related communications throughout the India businesses.
Assist the Group DPO and identify as required any incidents or other privacy assessments, such as Data Protection Impact Assessments and Data Subject Access Requests.
Assist business process owners with the maintenance of local information asset inventory and embedding privacy processes.
Assist with Data Transfer Impact Assessments and implementation of controls.
Maintain awareness of India privacy related laws, guidance and best practice.
Provide advice and guidance to the India businesses on privacy related matters.
Provide support and guidance on pending and actual projects where personal data may or is to be processed.
Maintain a tracker of compliance activity within India and other associated countries.
Create local privacy champions in various functions.
Engage with local Data Protection Authority as required.
Act as a point of contact for data subject related grievances.
Assist with the review of data protection contract terms to assess operational compatibility and provide recommendations for changes as required.
Provide training, development and support privacy champions.
Help identify improvements with privacy governance activities.
Identify and escalate privacy risks and help maintain privacy risk register.
Review and update privacy notices/policies as required – at least annually.
Keep updated on privacy legal landscape, enforcement actions and best practice.
Requirements
EDUCATIONAL / OTHER REQUIREMENTS
An interest in Data Privacy, Audit or Compliance. Ideally a recognized privacy qualifications IAPP or equivalent.
Must be able to operate autonomously under the guidance of the Group DPO.
Must be personable and able to build relationships with colleagues across the business to ensure the necessary level of detail is obtained, understood and accurately recorded in the Privacy Management Support Tool.
Should be organized and able to manage and effectively prioritize activities according to business needs as advised by the Group DPO.
Must demonstrate close attention to detail to ensure information obtained for and entered into the Privacy Management Support Tool is accurate.
Should have some experience of or an interest in the day to day operation of different businesses
