Job Description : Job Title: Digital Communications CoordinatorDepartment: Impact – DevelopmentReports to: Director of Marketing and CommunicationsFLSA Status: ExemptLast Review Date: January 2022Approved By: VP/Chief Impact OfficerApproved Date: January 2022POSITION SUMMARYThe Digital Communications Coordinator supports key communications activities for Hawai‘i Foodbank including social media; website management; email marketing; content management; content creation; internal and external communications; public relations; and multi-platform analytics.This position is an integral member of the marketing and communications team. The Digital Communications Coordinator works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, as well as collaborates with all departments across the organization to fulfill strategic goals and key performance indicators. Specifically, the Digital Communications Coordinator will work to gather and develop content; increase social media engagement and growth, email lead generation, and website traffic; and strengthen Hawai‘i Foodbank’s brand identity and overall reputation.This individual stays abreast of trends and implements compelling digital communications initiatives, with creative and targeted content, to diverse audiences – including recipients, donors, volunteers, food partner agencies, community supporters and a variety of other stakeholders.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Serve as a member of Hawai‘i Foodbank’s marketing and communications team, working with the Director of Marketing and Communications to coordinate and support the digital presence of Hawai‘i Foodbank’s programs, services, campaigns and initiatives.Manage all aspects of the organization’s website, including creative input, content development and updates, and optimizing layout relative to performance metrics and current organization priorities.Utilizes knowledge of SEO practices to identify and set up effective keywords to drive the most valuable traffic; write effective SEO content for the website, blog and social media platforms; analyze keywords and SEO techniques used by Feeding America, other food banks and select nonprofits.Execute on the social media strategic plan and oversee Hawai‘i Foodbank’s presence on all social media platforms; respond to comments and messages; and engage with followers, partner organizations and entities.Ensure that Hawai‘i Foodbank’s social media channels remain responsive, engaging and innovative.Write copy and schedule social media posts.Create and implement strategies to increase the number of followers and to increase audience engagement on social media platforms.Coordinate, build, edit and distribute email campaigns to support Hawai‘i Foodbank’s communications and initiatives, including monthly newsletters, fundraising campaigns, volunteer opportunities, advocacy efforts, event promotions, and automated and triggered messages.Create and implement lead generation strategies to increase Hawai‘i Foodbank’s email subscriber database, as well as support routine maintenance and cleanup of email audience lists.Assist with managing Hawai‘i Foodbank’s planning, scheduling and production calendars for its various digital communications channels.Produce content, including copy, photography, infographics and video – primarily for website, social media and email communications.Assist with project management of communications and marketing-related design, photography and video projects with both internal teams and external partners.Track and provide reports and analytics on key website, social and email metrics.Coordinate regular and campaign-specific reports on website, social, email and other digital communications performance to relevant staff and external stakeholders.Maintain compliance with Feeding America standards for sourcing publication content and content usage, as well as Feeding America and Hawai‘i Foodbank branding standards and other contractual content standards.Stay informed on emerging online communications tools, social media trends and overall best practices.OTHER FUNCTIONSComply with all federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.With team, present recommendations and assist in implementing quality initiatives.Provide support on any other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Working evenings, holidays, special events and project work and weekend hours, as needed.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated experience with website content management systems, UI/UX, SEO, web analytics and basic coding and related tools.Demonstrated experience with social media and email management platformsBasic knowledge of design and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and/or related toolsExperience with videography, photography and copywriting for online channelsNon-profit experience is preferredLANGUAGE SKILLS:Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Possess strong verbal, nonverbal and written skills. Ability to translate complex ideas into understandable information. Ability to collaborate effectively in order to help parties gain clear understanding of food bank concepts.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages. Ability to apply all concepts of bookkeeping and all generally accepted accounting procedures.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE, MACHINES, TOOL, VEHICLES USED:Ability to use a computer workstation, including keyboard, mouse, glide/track pad, printer, copier, scanner, and communication systems (including internal VOIP system, online meeting/communication systems, mobile systems, etc.)Proficient computer software skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)Website, social media and digital marketing expertise and working knowledge of best practices and online etiquette.Insured vehicle with valid driver’s license and clean driving record.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
