Job Description : SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT: Information Technology/Systems
TYPE: Classified STATUS: Exempt SALARY: ($71,715, up to 5 years experience, Twelve (12) month position, Full health benefits package) WORK CALENDAR: 261 DAYS (Classified Directors, 8 Hours Per Day START DATE: July 1, 2022
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
DEFINITION: Under general supervision researches, develops and implements educational and administrative technology and associated services. Provides support and training for users. Supervises, directs and participates in providing computer operations, training, service, support and network planning and implementation for Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Develops and implements educational technology for the District; determines appropriate use of technology for instructional and administrative use; installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment and infrastructure; administers network infrastructure; configures, monitors, maintains and repairs network infrastructure including website, e-mail, file sharing and domain name service.
Provides assistance to users of technology; assists with software and hardware problems and installation; provides training based on needs analysis; designs and implements customized training for faculty and staff; conducts workshops and classes; conducts seminars and demonstrations of new uses of technology; meets and trains technical school site staff.
Extracts data from programs; creates reports and files for reporting purposes for organizations such as Arizona Department of Education; writes custom programs as required; writes bid specifications based on technology needs of the district; seeks funding for technology as needed; attends training classes as needed to maintain appropriate certification and maintain knowledge of technology tools and equipment.
Maintains an inventory of equipment including hardware, software, documentation and warranty information; maintains files on district equipment, product sources and related; tracks and installs software and hardware updates and upgrades; maintains electronic and diagnostic tools, service manuals and parts and supplies as needed; and performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of Federal, state and local laws and regulations governing telecommunications and information systems.
Knowledge of managerial and supervisory principles, practices and techniques.
Knowledge of current technology trends and systems.
Knowledge of network environments.
Knowledge of telecommunications methods and techniques.
Skill in analyzing highly technical information and translating into easily understood communication.
Skill in strategic information systems planning.
Skill in analyzing data and preparing comprehensive files and reports.
Skill in identifying technology trends and issues and applying it to the District’s needs.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Skill in safely using, maintaining and repairing equipment and tools to complete assigned projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, walking, bending and lifting up to 40 pounds. May be exposed to dangerous machinery, heights, and hazardous chemicals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Technology or equivalent, and minimum three (3) years installation, repair and maintenance of computers and related equipment experience. Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred. May be required to possess or obtain Apple Service Certification. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
