Position : Engineering – Engineering Coordinator
Job Description : As an integral part of a team, the Engineering Coordinator is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guest’s experience from providing exceptional guest service to being responsible for all aspects of the Engineering department to include the proper operation, administration and supervision of all engineering programs and functions. Develop, coordinate and monitor engineering coordination between departments to ensure the safety and comfort of all staff and guests. Supervise, train and manage Engineering Storeroom Attendant.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.2. Maintain general knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.3. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.4. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.5. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.6. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.7. Assist in implementing a preventive maintenance program of all-building equipment and guestrooms, including the training of the Engineering staff on the management of such a program.8. Oversee the maintenance of inventory of all parts and supplies.9. Oversee purchases of all parts, supplies, tools and equipment related to Engineering, through direct contact with sales representatives.10. Coordinate Engineering team to ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all:Heaters, pumps, valves, and lines used in the distribution of steam and heated or processed water.Refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves as well as all refrigerant lines and devices used to control temperatures.Air compressors along distribution lines and all valves and devices for air control.Natural and manufactured gas and distribution lines, including all valves and control devices.Water filters, softeners, piping, and pumps used in conjunction with water distribution, including all sinks and toilet bowls, as well as supply lines and water lines.All types of motors or engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans.All electrical work and repairs.11. Respond to Housekeeping requests/orders specific to Engineering department12. Create POs, assist with Engineering on R&M budget. Have awareness of R&M budget13. Coordinate a once-a-week formal training program with Director of Engineering on the required job functions with criterion expected and department orientation with new hires.14. Coordinate ongoing training with staff.15. Assist in preparing legally required employment practices such as performance and aptitude reviews with Director of Engineering.16. Inputting weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts.17. Adjust work goals and schedules throughout the week to meet the business demands with Director of Engineering.18. Assist DOE with appearance of grooming guideline.19. Assist management in assigning duties and work responsibilities to staff members.20. Assist management for requests for vacation/sick leave, holidays for staff members, and leaves of absences, schedule changes, overtime, salary increases/reductions, purchase requests and expenditures with Director of Engineering’s approval.21. Organize daily routine equipment logs and be able to readily locate logs when requested.22. Assist enforcing safety regulations.23. Assist with creating accidental reports as requested.24. Assist Engineering staff as needed.25. Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned.SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTSReports To: Director of Engineering, Engineering ManagerSupervises: Engineering Storeroom AttendantEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.Minimum 3 years’ experience as an administrative assistant.Familiar with processing invoices.Ability to become proficient with ADACO.Any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this positionLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONSTuberculosis (TB) Clearance.Certification in CPR.Certification in First Aid/AEDKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESAbility to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.Ensure familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.Ability to maintain positive guest relations at all times.Familiarity of:Plumbing codesBuilding codesElectrical codesNational/local fire codesLocal mechanical codesWater treatment programBlue prints and plumbing and wiring schematicsPower and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical tradesPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
