Job Description : The Salvation Army is looking for an Event Manager to oversee and organize events that will make an impact in the community. You’ll ensure events are successful, paying attention to budget and time constraints. We want to see enthusiastic candidates with fresh ideas and a passion for Doing the most good.Qualifications: BS/BA in Marketing, Business, Communication or related field(may substitute on a 2:1 ratio experience for education)Minimum five years’ experience in special events and/or community relationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to flex schedule as events demandWorking knowledge of print/media production projectsComputer literate in Microsoft Office softwareCapable of maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentialityDetail oriented, accurate and preciseCapable of handling and controlling multiple projectsExcellent organizational skillsEnergetic, personable and dependableAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to work with people from diverse backgroundsSelf-motivated and have ability to motivate othersAble to meet deadlines and work under pressureDemonstrate leadership skills with strong team player attitudeAbility to maintain good rapport and communication with other staff members, Corps personnel and the public, in an affable, concerned and caring mannerAbility to prepare and deliver presentations in large and small group settingsKnowledge of Salvation Army programs, practices, policies and organization is highly desirableResponsibilitiesHave a basic knowledge of fund development techniquesManage all current fundraising special events and take the lead role in new event development and managementDevelop and manage event budget(s)Research, develop, & initiate new forms of community participation (Community tables, events, booths, etc.)Research, brainstorm and generate creative techniques and methods to continually improve upon eventsProduce and coordinate fund raising events including: advertising, logistics, leading event committees, managing event sponsors, creating and maintaining vendor relations, assembling sponsor packets, collecting event RSVPs, soliciting auction items, organizing and managing event check-in, registration, and check-out, organizing and managing event volunteers and creating or maintaining detailed event recordsAttend networking events and participate in community groups that will expose TSA to beneficial relationships for special event fundraisers; consistently explore ways to create partnerships with local businesses and vendors to enhance special event fundraising and meet revenue goalsWork with the Community Relations Director to ensure effective public relations and communication with existing sponsors to keep them abreast of existing and upcoming TSA community engagements and for general event promotionAssist the Community Relations Director and Social Media and Marketing Manager to effectively market eventsAssist in the preparation and distribution of written materials to support event activities such as brochures, media stories, meeting minutes, letters, event programs and articles for the New FrontierConduct post-event evaluation, including data entry and analysis and producing reports for event stakeholdersEnsure all necessary parties are thanked in a timely mannerCoordinate the dismantling and removal of event paraphernalia and clearing the venue efficientlyWork as a resource to the Advisory and Executive Boards, and provide staff support to the Christmas CommitteeProvide support to the Christmas Dinner Committee to ensure dinner is executed efficientlyWork with the Valley Corps, Media and Malls to provide support for the Christmas Angel ProgramAssist in program planningDevelop and maintain relationships with corporate and community partners in support of eventsWrite event speaking points and scripts when necessaryAttend speaking engagements and give tours on behalf of The Salvation Army as assignedOversee Logistics Coordinator for disaster related drives and eventsEstablish new and strengthen existing partnerships with corporations in support of eventsWork closely the Development Director & Phoenix area Officers in managing corporate partnerships in support of eventsConceptualize, plan, and execute a corporate relations strategy that maximizes sponsorship with the possibility of garnering philanthropic revenue thru event support, participation and managementBe familiar with the goals and objectives, organizational structure, and reporting hierarchy of all TSA operations.Gain a thorough understanding of all TSA program units and their services throughout the Phoenix Metro areaBuild good working relationships with Corps Officers, Advisory Board (Council) members, program directors, volunteers, and other supporters/potential supporters.Manage the cultivation process, with emphasis on educating corporation on Salvation Army programs available for corporate event partnership.Insure the acknowledgment of any gifts and gifts-in-kind in a timely and efficient mannerRecord and report all activities and production statistics on a regular (monthly) basis to the Phoenix Metro Coordinator.Maintain detailed records of corporate event support including a detaied contact listBe willing and prepared to represent The Salvation Army at public meetings, seminars, service clubs, corporations, and other group gatheringsCooperate and participate in approved training programsOther duties as assigned as it relates to the position of Events CoordinatorJob Type: Full-timePay: $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 per yearBenefits:Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programEmployee discountFlexible scheduleFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveReferral programRetirement planVision insuranceSchedule:HolidaysWeekend availabilityWork Location: One location
