Position : Halii Kai Ocean Club Manager
Job Description : Responsible for the quality of services at the swimming pool, fitness facilities, and food & beverage at the Hali’i Kai Ocean Club; hires, trains and supervises all Ocean Club employees.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily operations of the food and beverage facility including back of the house operations of the kitchen.
Creates and executes action plans to achieve superior customer and employee satisfaction while controlling payroll costs and other line expense items to accomplish the department’s financial and service objectives.
Maintains the integrity of information within the Point of Sales system’s database. Including but not limited to the following computerized records: Tip Declarations, Sales Allocation Reports, Time Records, Marketing Mix Reports, Credit Card Reconciliation Reports, and other pertinent data required for accounting and statistical purposes.
Conformance with the service standards established by AOAO is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Ocean Club.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Ocean Club facilities. Employees who violate Ocean Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Supportive functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position is required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, based upon the particular requirements of the Ocean Club.
Maintains an open-door policy and monitors employee relations.
Develops an operating budget for Ocean Club services.
Monitors the Ocean Club Facilities to oversee operational flow and presentation.
Maintain vacation schedules for proper staffing.
Reports any equipment in need of repair to the General Manager.
Performs other duties as requested by General Manager.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abiility:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities, and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with our without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Extensive knowledge of menu development, insight to marketing, cost and wage control.
Thorough knowledge of food products, standard recipes and proper preparation.• Ability to analyze, forecast data, and makes judgments to ensure proper payroll and production control.
Considerable knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) necessary to interpret reports and budgets.
Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy and collect accurate information to resolve conflicts.
Ability to communicate effectively in English with employees and customers, understand reports and related correspondence and accurately perform all essential job functions.
Ability to supervise large staff and accomplish goals on a timely basis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business with peripheral courses in Human Relations, Marketing, Communications and Sales.
Basic Chef training at a culinary academy or vocational school plus on-the-job training.
Experience – Knowledge of most international and domestic dishes required.
Licenses or certificates – Ability to obtain Tuberculosis Clearance Certificate.
Ability to obtain Hawaii Liquor Commission Management (blue) card.
CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred.
Grooming – All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
Additional language ability preferred.
