Position : HR Assistant – Red Salmon Cannery – (HRAST – RSC)
Job Description : Overview:
The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. A successful HR Assistant models professional and ethical behavior and upholds company policies. Assists the HR Manager in onboarding and orienting employees. Assists in timekeeping and payroll processing functions. This is a seasonal position working approximately May – August. Due to the seasonal nature of our industry, the HR Assistant works approximately 12 hours per day, seven days per week during peak production seasons approximately. This position is hourly and reports to the VP, HR & Administration, with dotted line reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager and Office Manager.

Responsibilities:
Provides clerical support to the HR department.
May assist assigning bunkhouse rooms.
May drive van to transport employees.
May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
Assists in orienting new and returning employees and trains them on company policies and practices.
Assists in paper and electronic HRIS onboarding for employees, consistent with company policies and regulations.
Creates and maintains paper personnel files, electronic HRIS and payroll data, and related HR documentation.
Assist staff in using electronic time clock system, process standard payroll and issues off-cycle paychecks as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must be or have:
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Prior office experience with a general understanding of HR and payroll regulations; company is willing to provide in-house training in these areas.
Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
Ability to work 12 hours per day, seven days per week, with additional hours during peak seasons.
Ability to work well independently and with others.
High degree of integrity and ethics. Proven track record of upholding company policies, enforcing them fairly and consistently, and safeguarding confidential information.
Ability to maintain professional composure in high stress work environment.
Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Willingness to work in an office setting in a seafood processing plant.
Valid driver license to be able to drive the company van.
Seafood production experience preferred.
Payroll Information
Pay periods are biweekly. Our workday is defined as the calendar day, and our work week runs from Monday through Sunday. Employees are paid on the Friday following the end of the biweekly pay period. We encourage employees to sign up for direct deposit but you may elect to receive paper checks instead.
