Job Description : INFORMATION CENTER CONSULTANT II (Public System Technician) – Range 15 / NONJob InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.Department: LibraryHours of Work: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.Location: 3600 Denali StreetThis position is a Part-time 30 hour per week position.Example of DutiesAssist the Library in supporting the information technology and audio visual equipment for public use, troubleshoot, evaluate, and resolve network data cabling/connectivity, desktop hardware and software network problems; utilizing specialized equipment test equipment and software for troubleshooting. Assist with new hardware, software, data network installations or move/add/changes. Maintain Library servers and deploy software updates/patches to computers. Assist in the creation and maintenance of group policy to provide the necessary end-user experience. Perform operations and system administration functions on the Library’s public network. Liaison with vendors in troubleshooting and resolving problems with hardware and software on a variety of equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesBachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and two (2) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhereOR .Associates degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and four (4) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.ORHighschool diploma, GED, or equivalent* and* six (6) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver’s license by time of hire.Preferences: Certification from Microsoft, Google IT Support Certification, Comp TIA, ISCA or HDIAdditional Important InformationThe Municipality of Anchorage participates in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security E-verify Program.
