JOB TITLE: IT Technician
DIVISION: Technology
SUPERVISOR: Senior Director, Technology
STATUS: Full-time
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
SALARY: $60,000 – $65,000 DOE
SUMMARY
An IT Technician is the subject matter expert in computer science. The IT Technician has responsibility for supporting all business hardware and software, including maintenance of administration networks, diagnosing technical issues, providing fixes, and assisting with computer tech center networks, as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The IT Technician must be able to work independently to:
Install computer hardware, software and network components including network cables.
Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to identify user issues.
Repair or replace faulty components of a computer/network system.
Implement new computer applications according to developed specifications.
Maintain communication system documentation, including network drawings and diagrams.
Perform scheduled maintenance on computer systems to ensure efficient operations.
Maintain up-to-date inventory of hardware and software for the organization.
Provide support for camera systems, wireless routers, telephone systems, printers and copy machines.
Attend educational programs, workshops, and seminars to stay up-to-date with developments in the IT industry.
Develop and implement technical procedures effective in quickly addressing problems to minimize downtime.
Complete other duties as assigned.
. Requirements:
Associate degree in computer science or related field (experience in lieu of education will be considered)
2+ years of experience in computer networks and systems maintenance
Proficient in MacOS and PC operating systems
Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
Must possess current Alaska driver’s license with reliable, insured vehicle
Must pass background clearance
Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel to rural Alaska sites, when needed
Ability to maintain first aid and CPR certification
Ability to communicate effectively and confidentially, including the ability to respectfully communicate with people from different backgrounds and disciplines
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stoop, climb, talk, see, hear, and lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a setting with frequent errands outside of the building. Occasional interruptions do occur, including visits from children, staff, and board members. The employee will travel by car or small airplane when necessary. It Is necessary for the employee to use their personal automobile to attend to technology needs outside of the office or to complete errands. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but may vary due to youth activities.
