Our Charlottesville, Virginia, Machining and Fabrication department has an immediate opening for Painter Level 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Northrop Grumman offers apprenticeship programs and tuition reimbursement providing employees a path to skill and educational growth.
Job Description and Qualifications:
Operates various painting, coating, and engraving equipment while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency of performance. Works from blueprints, drawings, operation sheets, verbal instructions, and/or engineering, tooling, or equipment information. Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs. Works with guidance, in a team environment
A successful candidate will possess great communication and interpersonal abilities, excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, manual dexterity, the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve, learn quickly, work well independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
Perform all painting operations and related finishing: prepare surface for paint, coat surface of parts and finished products with protective or decorative materials, spot repairs and rework where necessary.
Operate machines or equipment using coating or painting processes; selects and mixes coating material, coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer using brush or roller.
Perform all stenciling, silk screening, and engraving operations.
Regularly clean machines, related equipment, and work areas.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Obtains/maintains workmanship certifications.
Performs other related duties as directed.
Basic Qualifications:
HS Diploma or equivalent education with 0 years of experience.
Detail oriented and organized, with good time-management skills and the ability to multi-task while prioritizing workload.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to lift and move objects up to 40lbs from one location to another.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with wet paint, powder coat, silk screen, stenciling, and engraving.
Working knowledge of painting materials and techniques; finishing, sealing, and color specification.
Ability to read blueprints and alternate work instructions for execution.
Experience with SAP.
Additional computer training required, knowledge of various software applications including MS Word, Excel, Internet, E-mail, MS Office.

Salary Range: $36,400 USD – $60,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
