Job Description : POSITION TITLE: Shipping/Receiving Lead REPORTS TO: Inventory Control Manager/Master SchedulerDEPARTMENT: MILCOTS Shipping & Receiving LOCATION: Mahwah, NJFLSA: Non-Exempt SOC/EEO Code: 43-5071 / 5610Job Description: Responsible for planning, implementing and managing our shipping and distribution using company ERP platform. Your main duty will be to ensure secure, accurate, timely and productive shipping and receiving processes. This is a hands-on shipping/receiving lead position. You will be responsible for various tasks such as packaging, verifying content for shipping, receiving packages, leading, managing and working alongside, other staff members.Responsibilities: Plan and implement overall shipping strategy.Use shipping software to organize and prioritize shipping activities.Oversee the whole shipping receiving process.Suggest solutions for process optimization.Inspect labels and barcodes.Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders (such as co-workers, vendors, purchasing manager, suppliers etc.)Identify shipping issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.Determine storage areas for incoming shipments and allocate appropriate space within the inventory area.Assist in physically moving incoming items to designated storage areas and supervise storage activities.Match order information with information on picked items to ensure conformity.Operate lifts to pick heavy boxes and transport them to shipping/storage areas.Assist in loading and unloading trucks and determining safe ways of stacking items on the truck and retrieving items in a safe manner.Record damaged or defective items and replace them according to company policies.Handle returns and exchanges by ensuring reverse distribution processes are followed properly.Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled and correlating documents are available with each shipment.Select the method of consignment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.Arrange for a carrier vehicle or pickup.Post weight and shipment charges.Maintain files of shipping records.Trace missing or lost shipments.Assemble wood and cardboard containers or pick pre-assembled containers.Train fellow co-workers as needed.Other duties may be assigned.Requirements/Qualifications: High School diploma required, Associates degree or greater a plus. 5 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.Knowledge of logistics operations and shipping procedures and documents.Knowledge of international shipping requirements and documentation.Knowledge of Customs requirements and documentation.QF-66 Rev. A Page 2 of 2Hands on experience with ERP shipping and distribution softwareStress management skills dealing with demanding timelines and customer specific shipping procedures.Good leadership skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skillsTeam player.Good time-management, interpersonal and communication skills.ISO 9100 and/or AS 9100 experience desired.Experience in shipping and handling Electronic devices and housing preferred.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Strong communication skills.Ability to read and write manufacturing processes and instructions and interpret and follow basic instructions.Ability to manage production requirements and additional projects and responsibilities.Skills: Ability to troubleshootGood judgement and decision-making skillsExcellent knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteOperate forklift, preferredGeneral warehouse knowledgeAttention to detail a mustOrganized and self-motivatedADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: United States Citizen or Permanent Resident requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
