Job Description : THE POSITION
The Office of Standardbred Horse Racing has immediate need of dedicated persons with experience in criminal investigations to fulfill the positions of a Special Investigator 1 at Meadows Racetrack.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position performs investigations into illegal activities and violations of the Pennsylvania rules of racing, administrative rules, drug and alcohol abuse, and equine post-race samples. On behalf of the Race Track Manager of the Commission Office, the Special Investigator 1 compiles and assembles investigative data; prepares and delivers testimony and serves as the prosecutor for the Commission in Stewards hearings; interviews applicants that have arrests, convictions, or racing suspensions from other state racing facilities; performs drug and alcohol tests; and collects evidence/samples from applicants during an investigation. Responsible for search of any areas of the racing facility; obtains authorization for the release of confidential information such as court documentation, drug and alcohol treatment evaluations; witnesses’ collection, packaging and securing samples; performs fingerprinting; photographs applicants; verifies licensee’s eligibility; and researches applicant’s criminal history. The Special Investigator 1 upholds the rules of racing through the diligent investigation and authentication of all applicants for the Commission of Racing.

WORK SCHEDULE:
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Tuesday – Saturday (Summer months)
Lunch Period: 30 Minutes
The work schedule is vendor controlled and is determined by the racing schedule.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Two years of experience in criminal investigation work and a bachelor’s degree; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
A Commission employee license is required for this position.
