Salary: $3,047 to $3,708 per month (SR-11, Step C to H).
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.
As a condition of employment with the State of Hawaii, all qualified external candidates who have been given a conditional offer of employment must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and shall be fully vaccinated by his/her/their employment start date. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancies and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
Duties Summary
The Storekeeper I is responsible for:
the day-to-day operation of a large storeroom and/or warehouse and open storage areas including the receipt, storage, issuance and stock level maintenance of a wide variety of materials, supplies and equipment,requiring judgment in recommending appropriate substitutes;
adjusting replenishment levels according to seasonal demands;
resolving other problems not clearly covered by established policies or procedures, may also have direct responsibility for an extensive surplus property storage disposal operations, and coordinate the possible reutilization of such property; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Basic Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; or work experience (paid or unpaid), education, training or any combination thereof which demonstrated the ability to read and understand detailed but routine instructions or procedures; compare words and numbers quickly and accurately and perform mathematical calculations including multiplication and division.

General Experience: SIX MONTHS of clerical work experience which demonstrated knowledge of arithmetic, including multiplication and division; and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately.

Specialized Experience: ONE AND ONE-HALF YEARS of clerical work experience which demonstrated knowledge of storekeeping practices, methods and procedures, and inventory recordkeeping procedures.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: As required by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), Federal law states that “…an agency shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates and who:
1) Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
2) Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
3) Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
4) Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.

Other Requirements: Applicants who are conditionally offered employment or conditionally approved for movement into positions with the Department of Public Safety shall be subject to drug screening, as required by Federal, State or local laws or departmental policy; and will be subject to an intensive background check.
Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.

Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required for some positions. For these positions, a valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.
