Job Description : The VP, Investor Relations reports to the SVP, Investor Relations and Financial Media Communications and is accountable for all US investor communications, proactively promoting the company’s brand and reputation to the US investment and financial community in order to grow our US investor base. The primary responsibility of the role is to work with the SVP to ensure that both existing and prospective investors, sell-side analysts and other stakeholders have a clear understanding of the Company’s strategy, actions, financial performance and prospects. They are responsible for devising and implementing a US strategic investor programme which optimises the Group’s financial and strategic profile with these respective stakeholders and delivering on key reporting activity throughout the financial calendar year. They will support the SVP in advising and supporting senior management in their communications to key investor stakeholders.
Key objectives and accountabilities include:
Establish, coordinate and implement a strong and effective US investor programme in a pro-active manner
Partner with the SVP Investor Relations and Financial Media Communications and the SVP Global Corporate Communications to provide input into key messages ensuring content is fit for purpose, demonstrating the highest standard of integrity whilst portraying the group in the most appropriate light
Take the lead for proactively scanning news flows, competitors/customers/other stakeholders, news, research, internal messages and updates to proactively pull out stories and think about how to message to investors.
Work with broader team and other internal stakeholders around how to also work with media and/or use media to get to investors.
Leadership role with US investors (including activists) and analysts in support of Pearson’s engagement activities and building and maintaining direct relationships with key financial stakeholders
Feedback what have learnt from US investors to influence overall investor and company strategy
Accountable for the creation and delivery of a US investor engagement plan including one on one meetings and roadshows. Working with brokers to establish key targets through an investor targeting process.
Build strong relationships with new and potential shareholders through regular contact and dialogue to help diversify the shareholder base.
Build strong relationships across Pearson with key functions and operational leaders and help development through educating colleagues on investors’ perceptions.
Provides regular reports and feedback on external perceptions and financial expectations of the Group, financial media coverage, competitors and news flow. Represent the views of the investor community internally so to help inform and develop the company strategy and communications approach.
Support the SVP Investor Relations and Financial Media Communications in shareholder engagement on governance matters and advise on media related issues.
Manage relationships with US external advisors (brokers, PR agencies and other advisors).
Qualifications
Significant experience in financial markets and the US corporate investment community with strong communication skills
Proven experience of setting an IR strategy and executing against this proactively

As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $150K-$180K.
