Job Description : General Description
The Vice President of Branch Operations at the YMCA of Greater Cleveland serves on the senior leadership team and leads all aspects of branch operations including membership practices, program development and implementation, volunteer recruitment and management, staff supervision and development, community relations and collaborations, fund development and stewardship, budgeting and financial results. This position reports to the CEO.
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Compensation: $94,400 – $118,000
Position Summary:
The successful candidate should have experience aligning operational teams around functional, measurable performance with a results driven approach that is centered on mission and financial metrics. The position will be responsible for both exceptional quality program delivery and business functionalities driving financial success. Key skills include project management, collaboration, strategic planning, critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution, initiative, good judgment, independent decision making and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high volume of work. In addition they must have ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others. Must possess the insights and skills of modern management (ex. continuous improvement) to achieve the goals and the objectives of the organization through the efforts of other people.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction to the branches by directing and leading branch executives and providing overall direction to the branch boards and volunteers. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA branch operations through maintain program quality, ensuring program expansion, leading member recruitment and retention, recommending pricing strategies, and collaborations with other like organizations. With the President and CEO, VP of Facilities and CHRO serves as leadership to the YMCA safety audit committee.
Monitors monthly financials to assure that revenue targets in membership and program are met and expenses are controlled.
Collaborates directly with the VP of Youth Development on maintaining developing relationships to maintain and grow our out of school time activities for children and teens.
Works closely with the Chief Marketing Officer in the promotion and growth of branch activities through appropriate communication, promotion and staff outreach.
Collaborates directly with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to ensure that annual campaign goals are met and cultivation activities are occurring at the branches.
Identifies potential areas for branch cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
Works directly with assigned committees of the board to develop policies, oversee policy implementation and meet the board commission.
Implements and oversees a program evaluation system to ensure consistency with the Y’s cause and standards.
Develops and maintains measurement systems that are key performance indicators for branch leadership, branch boards, membership targets, program quality targets and enrollments. Reports these metrics to the CEO, peers, appropriate committees and the Board.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, social services or equivalent.
Eight or more years of professional operations experience. YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years management and/or leadership experience
YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
