Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employers, case managers, attorneys and patients. Ability to communicate and present information. Ability to establish, prioritize and coordinate activities.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED.Three years minimum in a similar position and setting.Worker’s Compensation Certification (CWCP).TRAINING: MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/WORK AIDS: Three months to become independently functional. Athena EPM & EMR, telephone, scanner, facsimile, & copier. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Works under the direct supervision of the Lead Workers’ Compensation Coordinator. No supervisory responsibilities.WORKING CONDITIONS: Walks, sits, and stands intermittently throughout the day. Works in a clean, well-lit, heated/ cooled and ventilated office.Hazardous materials exposure minimal and limited to normal office supplies.Physical demands may include: lifting 25+ pounds, 0-25% of the time and/or pushing 25+ pounds.Additional physical demands include: ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb or forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height; simultaneously speak on the telephone and write.Vision: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as reading from a computer terminal.Hearing: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.Speaking: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as speaking clearly to insurance carriers on the phone.Dexterity: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as speaking on the telephone and taking a message at the same time.Mental: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.OTHER: Employee must be aware of and fully support OrthoGeorgia’s policy on Customer Service as well as his/her commitment to Customer Service.MAJOR JOB DUTIES: 13 Schedule workers compensation appointments, verifies W/C insurance & obtains pre- certifications when required.14. Obtain referral authorization from one provider to another.15. Correspond with insurance company/employer regarding patient’s treatment.16. Assists patients through W/C process.17. Assists the doctors and staff with W/C patients and questions.18. Works directly with the physicians, nurses, case managers, employers, adjusters, and the patient to coordinate care and deal with any questions or problems they may have.19. Requests and sends records as needed.20. Addresses all paperwork related to W/C and disperses as needed.21. Maintains and updates records on patients, employers and insurance companies.22. Stays informed and up-to-date on W/C issues and changes.23. Develops and maintains interoffice W/C protocols.24.
