Job Description : Position Information
The Behavioral Healthcare Division (BHD) within the Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking an Administrative Specialist to join a dynamic and innovative administrative support team responsible for core administrative responsibilities of the Division. This position provides customer service that promotes the CARES (Communication, Awareness, Responsiveness, Empowerment and Solutions) model of service delivery.

The BHD provides adult outpatient mental health and substance abuse services, and services and programs that are comprehensive, coordinated, recovery-oriented and community-based and strives to deliver high-quality, trauma informed, fully accessible and responsive services.

Specific Duties include:
Facilitating office management functions, including coordinating building and equipment maintenance issues;
Managing the onboarding and offboarding processes for employees, volunteers, and interns;
Compiling information and statistics for various monthly reports;
Managing office supply inventory for the division and supplies provided to clients;
Coordinating BHD events and outreach materials which includes providing outreach to committees, task forces, and local/regional groups;
Collaborating with managers to review departmental policies and procedures for necessary revisions to ensure compliance with program requirements;
Managing vendor contracts and performance evaluations for client services;
Serving as back-up for customer service center operations and front desk coverage; and
Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service, relationship-building, communication, problem solving, and analytical skills; including experience working with a diverse population.

Selection Criteria
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in public/business administration, human services or a related field; and
One (1) year of experience performing human services program support functions/duties in public administration.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

Performing administrative support or clerical duties;
Using technology, tools, and methodologies to evaluate and analyze data;
Collecting relevant information to solve vaguely defined practical problems;
Extensive experience using Microsoft Office Suite; and
Reviewing, developing, and documenting business processes.
Special Requirements
A pre-hire background check will be required which may include the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

A state of Virginia Central Registry check will be performed.

Additional Information
Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with flexibility to modify work schedule based on business needs.
