Job Description : Location: Statewide, FloridaReports to: Campaigns DirectorEmployment Type: Regular, Full-timeSalary Range: $65,000-$80,000Organization Overview: Florida Rising is an independent political organization bringing together Black and Brown communities to seize power and govern to advance social, economic, and racial justice across Florida.Job Description:The Climate Justice Director is responsible for developing and managing the Climate Justice program to support the Organization’s strategic direction, as well as creating and managing department short term and long term goals. The Climate Justice Director resorts directly to the Campaigns Director.Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for developing programs to address the climate crisis from a racial justice lens at the local, state and federal levels.Ensure that the work of their team supports the organization’s strategic direction.Create and manage long term goals (regionally and statewide).Develop program budgets and assist with program funding proposals.Represent Florida Rising in Climate Justice coalition spaces.Develop a climate justice policy platform.Develop and activate natural disaster response, and manage disaster response initiative workDesign and implement actions and events to mobilize base, allies & partners toward key climate justice policy wins.Qualifications and Experience: Must have a strong understanding of climate change impacts on frontline and marginalized communities. Minimum of five years of relevant work experience and/or education is required.The ideal candidate is a seasoned organizer with experience running issue campaigns and building coalitions.Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Experience working in deadline-driven environments.Ability to moderate virtual meetings using platforms like Zoom and Google MeetApplicants must share a strong commitment to Florida Rising’s mission and be able to draw others into Florida Rising work.Strong track record of winning concrete campaign victories, mobilizing large numbers of people into action and building community leadership.Self-motivated; ability to take initiative and to manage multiple projects; and ability to work independently.Team-player: ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team to advance the mission/goals of the organization.Ability to interact with and understand people of various social, cultural, economic, and education backgrounds.Position may require the ability to travel locally and nationally and work occasional evenings and weekends.Organizer with ongoing relationships with frontline and marginalized communities in their regional area.Spanish and or Haitian Creole speaking a plusMust be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.Work RemotelyTemporarily due to COVID-19Job Type: Full-timePay: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayApplication Question(s):Did a Florida Rising employee encourage you to apply?
