Description
Assist students across the district scoring at the 80% and above on college interest examinations with all aspects of the college application process including college selection, essay development, financial aid, college resume, and help to complete scholarship applications
Coordinate and providing on-going speaker series and college tours
Develop and manage a case management system
Develop and manage an alumni tracking system and network development
Create and manage a district scholarship resource page
Develop and progress monitor a personalized strategy per student inclusive of merit-scholarship coaching, mock interviews and resume development
Coordinate college entrance exam preparation sessions for students that occur throughout the school year, including those that occur during the summer.
Educate students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, testing and advising
Assist students with creating opportunities for academic portfolio to include research experience, internships, competitive academics, leadership experience, and community service
Other duties as assigned
Identify and mentor students in the top percentile who have not met desired college entrance exam scores
Stay current on admissions research, trends, higher education updates, and opportunities for advanced academics
Continuous cohort development to support a peer supported community amongst students
Serve as the liaison with higher education admission counselors and students
Attend higher education professional development conferences and sessions
Collaborate, create, and prepare curriculum documents for presentation, as required or necessary
Prepare reports and track key admission, scholarship, and exam score data regarding results and outcomes
Collect data on course selection and course retention
Establish rapport and develop positive working relationships with the personnel at local institutions to facilitate implementation of college-related programming
Maintain confidentiality of student records (in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
Ability to support all district and department mental goals and objectives.
Ability to manage multiple projects at once that will be under the direction of a member of the departmental team.
All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Master’s degree is preferred.
Higher Education experience preferred
Three years of directly related experience
Demonstrated experience in implementing educational programs in a high school setting
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor individuals in an educational setting
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in working with students (grades 9-12) from various demographic areas and diverse ethnicities
Demonstrated leadership ability in managing multiple subordinates
Demonstrated ability to engage external parties and build relationships
