Job Description : About the RoleThe Men’s Denim Designer will be responsible for the design and development of Ariat Western Mens and Boys denim products. This position will ensure the denim product meets company standards for cost, performance, fit, function, and aesthetics. The position will report to the VP of Denim Design and Development and coordinate with product manager, tech design, and production team. Products must be built to meet Western consumer needs, company gross margin objectives, and developed to meet the departmental line calendar.ResponsibilitiesBuild concept / trend boards.Design, sketch, and build tech packs for denim.Design and deliver briefs for new sundries, labels, branding elements, etc.Provide wash direction and oversee execution for specific consumer segments.Ensure product fit, quality, and construction consistency through usage of block measurements and standard and quality standards outlined, in partnership with tech developer.Review prototypes/sales samples, evaluate wash, workmanship, construction, fit, function, production feasibility and communicate with production/sourcing team.Manage accurate specifications – bill of materials, wash communication, and sketches using Adobe Illustrator.Manage visual line sheet – must be accurately managed for development and marketing functions.Attend fit session – communicate fit/pattern changes & corrections with tech developer on prototypes through to production.Partner with Product Manager to understand business requirements, sales/consumer feedback, and line requirements.Monitor and manage materials, product development and pre-production timeline to ensure department timelines are met through tight factory management.Coordinate with quality assurance to ensure all materials and components have been tested and approved.Assist in miscellaneous projects including sample management, line presentation, sales meeting preparation, etc.Requirements3-7 years denim design experience, including a working knowledge of denim fabric and finishing techniques.Exceptional communications skills-verbal, written, and able to communicate visually (i.e. photographs, diagrams, sketches, etc).Motivated, enthusiastic, positive, and performs well in a fast-paced team environment.Ability to understand and design for multiple consumer segments, with the end consumer in mind.Detail-oriented with outstanding follow-through.Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks and work independently of supervision.Responsive to feedback and capable of adapting quickly to change.Proficient use of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Office, and PLM system.Will require periodic travel.Bachelors degree required, BFA preferred.About AriatAriat is an innovative, outdoor global brand with roots in equestrian performance.
