Job Description : JOB DESCRIPTIONDate: March 2022Position: DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT AND MARKETINGReports to: COOStatus: Full-time, ExemptSchedule: 40 hrs. per weekJOB SUMMARY: The Director of Advancement (DA) provides core mission support for Hoʻōla Nā Pua (HNP). Reporting to the COO and in collaboration with CEO and the Board of Directors’ Fund Development Committee and Programs Committee, the DA is responsible for implementing strategy, executing plans, and implementing tactics to drive revenue, provide marketing and communications, and build capacity for the organization.The DA will be responsible for collaborating with the Fund Development Committee and management team to establish the annual revenue goal and also collaborating with the Fund Development Committee and Programs Committee to establish the annual marketing goals. In addition, the DA will work with a Fund Development Consultant to implement the Annual Fund Development Plan and an Annual Marketing Calendar. This position includes leveraging key relationships and contacts within and outside of HNP’s current network to meet organizational goals. The DA will be responsible for executing plans and achieving the Board of Director (Board) approved goals.Minimum QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree.3 years minimum experience in professional fundraising or direct sales and marketing.1-2 years experience in brand messaging, communications, and/or marketing.Must embrace the mission of Hoʻōla Nā Pua and uphold organizational valuesMicrosoft 365 Proficient (Word, EXCEL, Powerpoint)Preferred QualificationsHaving knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.Having strong relationships with key corporate and philanthropic leaders in the community.Special Event Management ExperienceProficient in Database ManagementADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALFICATIONS: Ability to work under stressful conditionsAbility to interact with others with courtesy and tactAbility to manage and prioritize multiple projects in an organized and efficient mannerPossess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds; and viewing desktop computer monitor and use of computer keyboard.COMMUNICATION DEMANDS: The position requires talking to co-workers and volunteers, clients, vendors, funders and regulatory agencies; requires written communication to and from co-workers, vendors, funders and regulatory agencies talking on the telephones; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, vendors and regulatory agencies; requires providing training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other work-sites; Ability to communicate via the latest technologies required for the position.DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most work will be indoors and occasionally outdoors. Attendance at trainings/events with travel within the Hawaiian Islands and the continental United States may be required.Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks with Director of Operations and the controller to ensure complete donor and gift record-keeping.Coordinates, plans, and schedules development research activitiesResponsible for periodic audits of the gift acknowledgment process including updating refreshing “thank you” language for handwritten as well as Donor Perfect-related thank you responsesSchedules and facilitates after action reviews for major events with the development team and any other individuals needing to be involvedProvides regular oversight and direction for the development team to ensure completion of projects, ensure deliverables, and helps troubleshoot challengesManages and updates the donor database weekly to ensure that records of meetings and interactions with donors are being recordedEnsures all donors are kept up to date with HNP activities and events via email, telephone calls, in-person meetings, on a regular basisEstablishes Donor Calling- guidelines and campaignSchedules, organizes, and oversees a yearly donor appreciation partyEstablishes and implements a feedback survey for major eventsPublic Relations, Marketing, and AdvertisingWorks with the Marketing and Communications manager and PR consultant to develop a PR and advertising plan including:Annual audits to the communications calendar that supports HNP’s fundraising goals and timing of collateral needed.Responsible for oversight, content gathering, editing, and final sign-off of annual impact reportWorks closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager in the design and production of:Annual Impact ReportOrganizational newsletterCollateral materialsManages co-venture endeavors (whether product or events) in the fundraising efforts for HNPOversees all publicly facing events to determine the feasibility of revenue and develop new opportunities for revenueOTHER REQUIREMENTS: Able to meet basic standards of physical, mental health, and communication demands specified by State and/or professional accreditation standards applicable to this agency.
