Job Description : DescriptionChronicle books is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support the Adult Trade publishing groups by providing administrative, editorial, and project management support primarily to the executive publishing director and editorial director. The Editorial Assistant will be responsible for managing assigned editorial acquisitions, successfully executing the original visions, and bringing projects to on-time publication. This entry level position is an excellent start for anyone interested in illustrated lifestyle publishing.The Editorial Assistant will take meeting notes, evaluate submissions and manuscripts, maintain title schedules and title files, and help solicit back cover quotes. They will assist Design, Production, and Sales and Marketing in title execution, and they will work with authors, publishers, and agents throughout the editorial process. Assisting with editorial updates, managing intern projects, helping with proposal research and maintaining schedules for pending activities will also be part of this job along with other various administrative duties.RequirementsWe are looking for someone with a passion for illustrated publishing, who has interest in cookbooks, mind-body-spirit, parenting, entertainment, and/or pop culture. They should have proven editorial experience that includes copyediting and proofreading skills, and they will need strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills. An ability to work well with a wide variety of people, and an ability to efficiently manage many details and tasks simultaneously is also required. The person in this role will be an ambassador for Chronicle Books publishing, enhancing the company’s reputation among creators, retailers, librarians, the media, publishing peers, and end consumers.Please submit a resume and cover letter.
