Are you a compassionate person who enjoys helping others? The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for skilled and motivated individuals to fill 10 Eligibility Specialist I positions within the Eligibility Services Division (ESD) and join our team.

In addition to the positions open in Manti there are currently three other postings open in Cedar/St.George – recruitment #31615, Blanding/Moab – recruitment #31492 and Richfield – recruitment #31596. If you are interested in working in these locations please apply on these recruitments separately.

These positions may be eligible for telework. Training will be required for up to two weeks in the Manti office, followed by an additional 7 weeks of virtual training (this can be done in the office or from your home). After training, the position may be done via teleworking during core business hours (8AM – 5 PM).

In recognition of Governor Cox’s Executive Order on rural Utah hiring, preference may be given to those applicants who physically reside outside the Wasatch Front.

This position may be filled as an Eligibility Specialist II for an internal applicant, depending on qualifications. Salary Range $18.21 – $32.19

Job Duties
Employees in this position work within a team structure in a call center environment to interview and determine eligibility of customers applying for or participating in public assistance programs such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, General Assistance, SNAP, Medicaid or Child Care. Duties may include:
Accurately applying complex policies and procedures in determining initial and/or continuing eligibility.
Assisting customers seeking financial and other supportive services primarily by identifying and assessing service needs through daily processing of an individual and team caseload.
Monitoring benefit levels.
Ensuring timely delivery of services in compliance with federal regulations.
Exercising good judgment in working with clients who need assistance in utilizing community, department or government resources.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has:
4 years of work experience related to finance, call center processing, banking, insurance or health care that relates to working with data entry or determining eligibility OR a 4-year college degree OR 4 years combined education and work-related experience in finance, call center processing, banking, insurance or health care that relates to working with data entry or determining eligibility.
Superb communication skills – ability to communicate with customers and co-workers from all backgrounds.
Experience working in a call center environment.
Experience speaking Spanish fluently in addition to speaking English.
